Title: finished jewellery 2014
Post by: GaysieMay on January 21, 2014, 10:36:19 AM
I have been busy making lots of new stock for fairs and galleries, but since I have had an ipad mini have put very little on here to show as I barely turn on the PC anymore (still haven't worked out how to paste a link/code from flickr to a forum when on ipad - any tips gratefully received)

So at the risk of boring you and with apologies in advance here are some of last weeks pieces:

Title: Making something with my beads
Post by: marklaird on January 26, 2014, 11:04:47 AM
I made a bracelet before Christmas with this set of beads and the lady was so taken with them she wanted a necklace and earrings to match.

(http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3723/12149333225_4ccfcfaafb.jpg) (http://www.flickr.com/photos/hazelhousejewellery/12149333225/)
NKLG88 (http://www.flickr.com/photos/hazelhousejewellery/12149333225/) by Marklaird (http://www.flickr.com/people/hazelhousejewellery/), on Flickr

I made the simple dangles on the right just to give her something different to wear occasionally.

Swarovski crystals, Tibetan silver and some odd bits of chain to make the ends. They'll be off to Poland in a weeks time with a colleague which will save on the postage.

Post by: GaysieMay on January 29, 2014, 06:20:32 PM
I have had lots of things half finished for quite a while, and promised myself I was going to finish them.  I'm so pleased I got round to making up the last few elements to finish this.

I haven't shown much recently, so I thought I'd share of the things I've been lucky enough to have been commissioned to in the last couple of weeks

Firstly a dragonfly charm added to one of my big hole bead bracelets for a customer who didn't want a standard monogram tag. The wingspan is just 22mm

Some little carat gold stud earrings set with some fab, but tiny (3mm) Colombian emeralds - I have to confess to making an extra pair of these for myself and I'm completely loving wearing them :)

emerald earrings (http://www.flickr.com/photos/mizgeorge/12278966893/) by mizgeorge (http://www.flickr.com/people/mizgeorge/), on Flickr

Then a bracelet to match - gold filled this time, with an emerald accent bead on the extension chain

And lastly a couple of pics of an oxidised copper dragonscale bracelet - one of the few chains I really love taking pictures of!

Title: Chain Maille and lampwork bracelet
Post by: Aruala on March 31, 2014, 12:24:58 PM
My first foray into chain maille so I can start wearing some of my more successful lampwork beads.  I decided to go for an interchangeable option so I can swap the wirework/lampwork clasp and have different style bracelet chains - so far I have managed 1 double-hooked clasp with my favourite bead, a mid-weight byzantine chain in copper and a chunky JPL chain in copper and am pretty pleased with how its working out :)

Don't really get the chance to post much jewellery, but here is a pair of earrings I made for a commission.

They are Reichenbach Porcelain with fine silver beads, hand made Sterling Bead Caps, tube rivets, spirals and ear wires.
The tube rivets were done with 2mm tubing and made me almost cross-eyed by the time I'd finished!

Title: Lush Loops and a Lady!
Post by: GaysieMay on April 26, 2014, 02:08:16 PM
I might just be the last person to have tried Julie's Lush Loops but think I may already have become addicted!  I love them and they are so easy to use.

This Ladies what Lunch bead cracked and I flame healed her, but she has a bit of a scar, so I decided I will keep her and wear her this Summer!  At first I added lots more lampies to the necklace, but didn't really think it needed them so kept it simple just using the hoops. I'm thinking of making some for one of the Galleries I supply.

I had a wee flash of inspiration the other day and it actually worked the way I hoped it would :) It's strung on temporary ribbons for the mo, as I'm out of the colour I wanted to use ... am going to make some more ... SOON ! :)
Title: So very proud of this new necklace!
Post by: Irene on May 11, 2014, 05:19:32 PM
I really am, and not ashamed to say it... I think its the best I ever made so far in my bead-making "career".
I have mixed in some blue stones and swarovski + some tibetan beads for bling factor.

Title: I like big discs, I cannot lie
Post by: lampworklover on July 08, 2014, 01:36:03 PM
Decided that I needed a new necklace to match a top that I made, and came up with this. I am not a small person, so wanted something that was reasonably chunky: it's is pretty heavy, so has been strung on two lengths of beadalon and secured separately. Got quite a few nice comments when people saw me wearing it, and two of them are coming to look around my studio 'and to place jewellery orders' :D

Last weekend we saw a guy selling these at the Cardiff food fest, I could tell my wife really liked it (she's a vet, really has a thing for pigs). I didn't buy it for her though, when we got home I did a bit of research, found some old 1920's Irish half pennies on the internet, then a couple of busted jeweller's saw blades and some tedious viking knit later, ta-daa! She gets home tomorrow, can't wait till she sees it! :D

The lampwork beads, bead caps, clasp and extender chain are all handmade. All the beads went in the tumbler - I'm trying to avoid etching when I can.
I haven't had any problems with losing bits of silver (yet!).

Title: My newest wire-work creation (necklace)
Post by: Yeske on August 16, 2014, 07:40:25 AM
Hello everyone! Long time no see - I haven't touched the torch in a month (and then only to finish a necklace that I promised to someone), but I've been into wire-work for some time now.

I'm currently in Czech Republic (or how do you say it in English? We Dutch call it Tsjechiƫ) on vacation, but before I went there, I made this piece of jewellery. I'm quite proud of it so I wanted to show it to you - I feel that I'm getting better and better at wire-work.

I'm really getting into silver smithing and other 'raw' techniques, and I'm thinking about doing a workshop or course on gem cutting! (I love gemstones and I would love to learn more about them and to work with them). I guess that lampwork just wasn't really my thing (what with my unstable hands and fear of fire hahahah) :( But now I have a new focus. What do you think?
Title: New bracelet
Post by: Irene on August 17, 2014, 03:28:54 PM
I have made a New bracelet, its for a good friend of mine as a late birthday present. I'm not good at making my beads into Jewelry, mostly because most of my beads are Experiments of some kind.  I think I will try to make a similar one for myself, but perhaps choose only Three or so different kinds of beads.

Title: Copper Earrings
Post by: JanieD on September 06, 2014, 01:34:44 PM
I've had this pair beads on my bench for months now, and finally got round to making them into earrings today.
They are Effetre medium amber (I think), Purple Rose frit and silver foil. I have sealed the copper wire so my ears don't go green :)

Title: A new necklace
Post by: Irene on September 14, 2014, 04:40:20 PM
Here is a New necklace I just finished. This is to be a gift for my sister I think. I haven't sold any of my Jewelry as of yet, as I still feel I'm a novice at bead making and only want to sell Perfect beads. I also find it hard to set a price, People have asked to buy a couple of Things that I have worn my self, and I don't even know what would be a decent price. I have read the threads in here about pricing, and it is not easy to decide.

I love the necklace Irene and I agree your beads are lovely ! You should feel confident in selling them . :) As for pricing I ask for what I think I would pay for something myself, and if it doesn't sell I reduce the price after a while. But I still find it hard to know what to charge.

I don't post anywhere near enough on here, but am actually pleased with this necklace I made so thought I'd share. When you wear it, it's round on your neck rather than oblong. The press was the one that Bev at Pegasus came through for me, it showed as out of stock but she managed to get one to me in time, it's my new favourite press, love it.

Title: SS Lentil XL
Post by: Pat from Canvey on October 21, 2014, 10:35:54 AM
I've tried various light situations for this but keep getting different reflection in various places. This is the best of the bunch but there's still some sort of glare in middle bottom.(http://pic20.picturetrail.com/VOL1426/5604171/24562402/410228013.jpg) I made the chain too from individual lengths of 1mm silver, no soldering. It's 18 inches long. Theres also a different pendant made from some silver glass and various bits of shorts. I played with the shape until I found one I liked. It's on the same chain here.(http://pic20.picturetrail.com/VOL1426/5604171/24562402/410228014.jpg) The photo just doesn't do the streaks of silver glass justice.

Matching little pendant made with the same materials. Also with a little 'scroll' like at the end of the ear wires in the previous picture, though that isn't visible the way the pendant's orientated in the picture.

Necklace inspired by the watertribe/Katara from the cartoon series "Avatar, the last airbender". Already have a buyer for this one (at least, it's reserved); somebody who wants to use this in a cosplay :)

That's about it though. Not very productive for 2 months, ah well. Oh yeah and I made a similar earring set as the first picture for my mother's birthday, only with grey larvikite beads. She loved them. :)
Title: Just a little something..

In the summer I started making a pendant. I've worked on it on and off and it's finally finished. It's made in several layers that are then riveted together, with a back frame holding the moonstone, then the hare, front frame and finally the etched tree. I'm really proud of it, although I can see the faults in it too :D

Title: Wire-wrapped brooch and some more earrings

Soooorrry to be bothering you all again with my non-glassy jewellery!
But this brooch I'm quite proud of, and I'll be wearing it at my graduation coming thursday :)
It's sterling and fine silver with garnets.

And I've also made a few more of those simple earrings with handcrafted ear wires. The ones with kyanite sold within the same day! I guess these are just easier to match with everyday clothes :P I haven't finished all of the new ones yet, and have only photographed these two, of which the latter pair is already reserved... by my mom! Hihi she is so sweet :)
