Title: Propane or Butane?????
Post by: Dmclax on August 10, 2013, 03:00:05 PM
Heya, I'm still really new to lamp working and my propane (Calor 6kg red) canister is starting to run out.
I have a canister of butane (Calor 7kg blue) and I was wondering if it would be okay to use that. From my reading it appears that butane can be okay, but may make the flame a bit dirtier.
I would be grateful for any knowledge on this subject and experience with both gases.
Thanks!

As far as I'm aware you should only use propane..

I also think the threads on the cannisters will be different, to prevent mix-ups... If you do try it, let us know how it works out.

I've tried Butane - I wouldn't go there if I were you - way too dirty.  Horrid murky, mucky beads mostly!  ;)
