The theme of the month challenge is jointly sponsored by Tuffnells Glass (thank you Martin et al!) and Frit Happens!
Each month the lucky winner, chosen by a random number selector, will receive a £20 gift voucher to spend on-line with Tuffnells. The draw will take place at the start of **July** so make sure you get your entries in before midnight on the last day of June to be in with a chance to win the goodies!
Please note that the entries should be new work.
So, the theme for the month for June 2013 is Egypt.
And again.....something in mind ;D he he he. Monthly challenge I can do? I like it!
I'm in for this one :)
Made something yesterday, and when I get home, I'll get them out of the kiln and see if they are any good :)

I have been quite 'virusy' this week so didn't get much chance to practice, but here is my first effort at the this month's theme.
Shirley very kindly lent me her tile press and these were so much fun to make that I'm going to work on perfecting my stringer work so that I can progess these for the future. They will be called Valley of the Kings :)

Thank you! It's Effetre cool fossil.
Very effective, Gaynor. I like!

Heh, I have two in the kiln right now, but it's not going to have cooled down by midnight. Doh.
Here is a pair of Egyptian lion coasters that I made based on an image in the "Papyrus of Ani" from 19th Dynasty Thebes in Egypt. The lions represent "yesterday" and "tomorrow".

Anubis head. There will be proper photos once they're out.
I've had this idea in my head for a while now, thought if I don't do it now it'll be another 6 months
a canopic jar.

I made Scarabs, but they are not as good as everyone elses entries Smiley
um I think they are a lot better than my Pyramids Ann
I love that everyones gone such different directions with this!
I'm also glad that I'm not the only one who is last minutey! :D
We all seem to have run out of June, Madeline. Here's my entry - not happy with it, but no more time. I sort of got lost in the middle, and didn't get the eyebrow right, and the SIS seems to have fumed the cobalt lapis, but DH says it looks Egyptian (bless him!), so here it is. Not a patch on everyone else's.

At least the competition isn't judged on merit!

These are all brilliant! I confess I was getting a little worried there would only be a few names going in!
I shall pull out names tonight and set up a new challenge!
Lovely entries all of them :)
I didn't attempt this challenge because I couldn't think what to make :-\ ....but the entries here are all fabulous, what a lot of creativity and talent there is on FH!
Yep, this challenge was completely beyond me I'm afraid!
Fabulous work here. Missed this one too.
Squeaking these in - simple encased blue with gold leaf!

Papyrus growing along the banks of the Nile.
Here are the proper photos of mine (the rest of this week seemed to vanish very fast...)
Anubis head on front, ankh on back.

ok I have been in suspense for nearly 2 weeks......I reckon Krysia has gone on a round the world cruise and forgotton all about us :o :o :o
Sorry guys for not pulling these earlier, to say this place is bedlam at the mo would be an understatement. I've had to pack up my glass, it's all gone into storage, the master bedroom is no longer my creative space, it's a bloomin bedroom. I don't even have a proper computer chair, I'm sitting on some Ikea steps! In amongst the chaos I have been decorating. The worst job sanding all the doors in the hall was completed yesterday - thank GOD, but now I'm sitting in the most unbelievably dusty flat, even after vacuuming for 45 minutes yesterday evening. So here I am in the time honoured tradition of doing anything but cleaning and giving you your winners
Drum Roll......
The winner for July is....
Purple Cobwebs.
Well done. I shall PM you in a mo.
Thank you to everyone that's entered this month's challenge the stuff you've produced is bloody brilliant. Ta - Krysia xx
Congratulations!
Nick
Well done xx
Eeeeeeeee!!!! Thank you!!!!! My very first FH win!!!!
Hope you're soon all organised Krysia xxxxx
congrats purple cobwebs :) and good luck with the flat Krysia.
I feel like I've turned a corner. Stuff is now being moved into it's new home and not into a holding area. After this move, I NEVER want to move again!!
