Title: Before and after
Post by: Bobbo on April 25, 2013, 12:01:26 AM
Hi everyone, I'm just back from a product photography crash course with a fantastically talented photographer called Paul Silver http://www.thesilverman.co.uk (http://www.thesilverman.co.uk) and thought I'd post a couple of before and after shots.

He also mocked up an advert for me:

A brilliant day and I learned so much from him that it's completely fired me up with enthusiasm for my website, which I was beginning to loathe coz of the pictures.

Thanks for looking,

Rob

Wow, did he just work with you and your camera, or did he also provide the equipment? The after photos look very professional, a good business move!

Thanks for the positive feedback  :D

QuoteWow, did he just work with you and your camera, or did he also provide the equipment?

I took along samples of all the different types of jewellery that I make (pendants rings bracelets earrings etc) which he then worked out the lighting and camera stuff using his equipment and took photos. Once he'd got the look I wanted ("I don't know what I want but it's got to pop!!")  he broke down into nice easy explanations what we'd done and how to recreate it using my limited lighting gear and camera (just an old Fuji finepix). The top right photo is one I took at home the others were done at Pauls with his gear. As they say proof of the pudding, and I don't think I did a bad job with the Jens Pind bracelet at all  8).

Rob.

p.s. I'll post a pic a bit later of my home set up to show just what I mean by limited  ;D

These are great - so good that he showed you how to achieve such a good effect when using your own camera and lighting too.  :)
