Good idea, I may try that
I use those for smaller 1mm mandrels, I blogged about it here http://www.earth-shine.co.uk/2012/07/1mm-mandrel.html (http://www.earth-shine.co.uk/2012/07/1mm-mandrel.html)
Nice one will give them a go! :)
Didn't think about thinner mandrels Spexy - where do you buy them from? Sometimes I just want a small bead hole for certain jewellery.

Hi!
I just wanted to post a short update.
We have a tutorial now that shows how to make your own earstud-mandrels. The text is in German only, but the pictures speak for themselves: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.187838628017314.45531.141502792650898&type=1
And some info on how to polish surgical steel findings that tarnished in the flame: https://shop.vetromagic.at/en/how-polish-surgical-steel-accessories-after-use-flame
I tried them after seeing this, but I found that I still prefer to use a pin vise. Janet
P.S. what your fingers hen you are cutting them open.
