The colour of the month challenge is jointly sponsored by Off Mandrel (thank you Sean and Gillian!) and Frit Happens!
Each month the lucky winner, chosen by a random number selector, will receive a £20 gift voucher to spend on-line with Off Mandrel. The draw will take place at the end of JULY so make sure you get your entries in to be in with a chance to win the goodies!
A reminder that the entries should be new work.
So, the colour for the month for JULY 2012 is EFFETRE TRANSPARENT LIGHT VIOLET (041). Come on let's see your creations!
Good luck!
Kazx
Hmmmm. Now that's appealing! *goes to rummage in her glassy stash*
Kaz, I have a load of transparent purples, some of which are not labelled. I have just looked on tufnels because that is where most of my glass is from and he doesn't have any 41. He has 40 and 42. So I'm guessing my unlabelled bunch isn't what's required because I'm sure it was from Martin. Where do you get 41 from?

its in specials/handmade
Ooh, just checked my stash and found a little bundle of this colour, now I just need to escape from the visitors long enough to get to make something. Janet
Ive just been playing with the one rod I have of this, so hopefully something will come out of the kiln, thats worth looking at :)
Here's mine ... simple but i like them :D

I like them too Trudi.
I likey them too Trudi.
Thank you ladies .... I have a habit of usually reaching for ink blue, so it was nice to be reminded of different purples. Amazing how they can look so similar in the rod but so different when you use them!
Very pretty - I will have to get some of this colour to play with !
I love those discs. I found some rods labelled Light Violet in my stash but there's no code and the rods look quite dark. Would those be the right ones, or do your rods look lighter?
The rods do look very dark, sounds like they're the right ones :)
Thank you :)

Yes, very pretty with the pink.
Here's my offering, the big bead in the centre is hollow.

such pretty beads from everyone, must be the influence of the colour!
Here's my effort, based heavily on the 'Graceful Eastern' project in Joan Gordon's Creative Lampwork, but less intricate - partly because I thought I'd better stop while it still looked okay :)

light violet over white, with some dark violet in the layered dots, and light green raised dots - which have gone quite yellow.
That bead is simply (well, not at all simple really!) wonderful, Katherine.
It puts my pathetic effort to shame.

I know, I need more PPP ... and more PPP ...
Those beads are brilliant Katherine, better than my attempts at that tut and don't put yourself down Liza(? sorry don't know your name) that bead is lovely.
Here is my pathetic attempt, but it's the first time I've posted anything for this (just worked out how to post photos - thank you for posting advice in FH).

The top one is Light Violet over white with DH dots, and the bottom one is LV over clear over LV with swirled SIS.
Nick
That's a great colour in the first one, Nick.
Has any one other than me found it hard to get the colour of the rod to show when it's melted?
Thanks for the moral support, Linda!

Beth
Thank you Beth, I think yours is lovely, as are all on here. I did find it difficult to get the colour to show, hence over white and over clear over itself, which didn't really work.
Nick
Ah, Beth, thanks for adding your name.
I love your top bead Nick, it looks lovely over the white and the touch of silver glass is fab.
lots of lovely beads, bloomin typical, I did not think I had any of this but I just found a half rod in the back of the jar :-[
ah well next challenge please, and with a bit of luck I will have some that I do know about !
