Title: 1.6mm mandrels and bead roller
Post by: spexy on February 24, 2012, 09:16:05 PM
I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this so mods please feel free to move it.

This may have been thought of before, so apologies if it has.

I have found a way of using 1.6mm mandrels with my bead roller so that they 'fit' into the channel of the bead roller without moving side to side.

I have written it up on my blog.

Enjoy!

Thanks, whilst I realise this may not be a problem for some I hope it will be useful to others.

Very interesting.

Personally I've never had a problem with different mandrel sizes in a roller (I often use my 5mm roller to make beads on 2mm mandrels) I do get wobbly mandrel syndrome in presses though so this may help with that.

I personally don't own a bead roller - well yet anyway.... but this is quite a good idea to tackle such a problem should it arise.

I would just like to say that it is probably not a good idea to do this without a dust mask on, bead release dust is not very good for you if you breathe it in, which is why it is suggested that you remove it from your beads in water.

Perhaps a safe way around this, would be to wipe the area clean with a damp cloth each time you do it.
