Title: BHB Copper Tubing - only from the US??
Post by: Lakelady on December 05, 2011, 07:45:19 PM
I have decided to make my own bead liner and need some copper tubing to practice with.  I can only find a supplier on Etsy in the US (shipping is almost as expensive as the tubing!) - surely there is someone here that does it?  I have found a supplier of tubing on Ebay for plumbing but am unsure of the wall thickness needed for coring - does anyone know a) ideal wall thickness and b) where can I get some in the UK?

Thanks  ;D

copper here - http://www.modelshop.co.uk/search,l.html?category=130&q=copper

Brass here - http://www.modelshop.co.uk/search,l.html?page=1&d=1&category=130&q=brass

Same company. I got the 5mm and 4mm. The 5mm comes up too small for Pandora bracelets, id about 4.1 to 4.2mm. The 4mm I can't get any bracelets through. Might be wise to try the 6mm if it will fit your beads.

Thank you!

I reckon with a double dip, 6mm will work!  Do you know if it's the same as the plumbers stuff?

Because if it is, it is way, way cheaper!  ;D

OK, just looked it up properly in my tax file.
I actually got it from JCS metals, here http://www.jcsmetals.co.uk/ Sorry for the confusion, scrap my first reply.
But at the moment the website doesn't seem to have anything on it. They were set up showing you the products but with no basket or checkout. You would need to email them with what you want and they'd invoice you for payment then send it out. So far as I remember, (beginning of July, oh so long ago!) it wasn't a hassle. I got 2 lengths each of brass and copper in 4mm and 5mm, so 8 approx 12" lengths for a total including p&p for £11.20, so fairly comparable to the price of the copper on ebay.

Looking at old threads here (http://www.frit-happens.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=25766.0) Christina says she was getting some in, but that was a year ago and I can't find it on her site at the moment, I can't find the silver either and I was thinking of going up a step at some point soon.

They don't even have contact information now, so impossible to phone or email.

Mm.  I had found JCS metals from another thread but came to that dead end.....

Have decided to get 1 length from ebay to see what's what - only £1.25 with free pp, so nothing to lose!  If that's no good, then I can try the model shop links you gave before, although tbh, I think it will probably be the same as the Ebay one.

Glad I am not investing in a bead liner if it's this difficult to source!

Thanks for your help  ;D
