Title: Displaying Bead Collection
Post by: Stacy on May 31, 2007, 10:19:10 AM
I have just recieved my bead from Les, which is so stunning that I can't bear to leave it in the box. So I was just wondering how you store or display your bead collections?

I was thinking of one of those wall displays with little boxes but even they might be too big for some of the smaller beads.

I'd like some acrylic block and rod stands.... so they can be shown individually and on my dresser in the lounge. I have a Diana East bead that just needs showing off you see!!!!!

Failing that - I may just make some stands out of some old mandrels ( bend a coil around the bottom).

That's exactly what I want Jim, an abacus type frame. There's a bead shop in the Perth area, they have a lot of beads displayed on the same type of thing. I asked if I could buy one, but got quite a snotty response from the assistant, something like "oh, they're not for sale, the owner IMPORTS them". My brain was screaming at me to say "oh yes, just like most of the beads in this shop", but my mouth wouldn't form the words.... :-\
If I could get one in the UK, I'd definitely have one! :)

Why is "importing" stuff such a big deal to the shop? Shops do it all the time. It's not like you have to go and fetch it yourself!

as for spiral stands, they are easy enough to make out of wire. I've been sending some out with goddess focals.

You can make them out of your old slightly bent 1.16th mandrels too.

They are easy to make, but if people really want I can do a little tut for them?

I've also been thinking of some wooden base & mandrel wire ones as well, if i can get the time to do them.
