I think using the clear may make it a little easier to control, certainly worth a try :)

Tut, just get it out and throw caution to the wind.  This is probably a good method for a first try :D

If only you knew how hard that was around here! We live right on the coast, and it's very windy (we have an average of 40 gales a year here). The window of my studio does shut (just), but the door has to be ajar to allow my propane hosing to go outside  ;) Let's put it this way; I don't make big hollows on windy days; they explode!

Oooh, that looks worth a try.  I wonder if the stringer is less likley to snap as it has a clear core too. :)

Well,  hello!

I wondered why in the world my blog had so many hits...

... laughing at the spit, I do that in a pinch too.  (Ok, am I allowed to admit that in my first post here??)  However, I don't like getting my fingers near my mouth when I've been touching all of the other lampworking --- stuff.
