Well, you asked for it and it's there on YouTube. Shot and edited by my DH. It's not great but we'll have another go over next weekend. Might do some others too - using presses etc.
No laughing please - it's a first attempt!!!

Good work Kaz and Himself, thats really good
That's great, Kaz, thank you very much ;D ;D
Thanks Kaz, that's really great ;D
Great video snip, Kaz! :)
That's exactly how I do it! Great video!
Thanks Kaz......gonna have to try that.....you seem so relaxed doing that video....makes me want to get on the torch.....quickly
Great video Kaz :)
Great video Kaz, well done! I really hope you do some more ;D
Hazel xx
Excellent, you're a natural :D and I think Mark did a great job of editing :)
That is brilliant Kaz :)
and the mug warmer is GENIUS :D :D I'm off to buy one :D :D
That's great Kaz - Mark did a fab job too :)
Apparently the mug warmers are great for heating murrini on as well.... :D
Yes, it was a present from Diane for warming murrini but got hi-jacked for its true purpose.
Did you spot the bead by Di East sitting on top of the plug socket?
Kazx
That is brilliant! Thanks honey! I now know i've been over heating and over squishing em!!! Xx

I'd forgotten all about them - I'll have to dig mine out ;D.
Great video Kaz!
Smashing video Kaz
Lookforward to the next one
Ooo I've been sooooo frustrated by this as I've only had my iphone for the last few days and it wouldn't play on that!!
It was worth the wait though, great video with nice clear commentry Kaz ;D
That was great! (although I must admit, I got a little distracted by the mug warmer too!)
;D ;D
What a great video Kaz! (and me too on the mug warmer.....)
Hi Kaz
That was really helpful to see!! I do tend to heat and press mine too, but not quite as many times as you had. Before I must have got away with it not being too complex - now I'm going to have another go as per the video (seeing it done really does make you appreciate exactly what you mean by gentle heating and pressing!)
I made this with your murrini

But i did heat it till it was really flat before I pressed. And I'm wondering if I gave them a little too much heat and they've struck a bit too, and if, as you mentioned after applying the first murrini in the video if I should have left them a little proud and then pressed flat in the press.
Hi Trudi
I think those are the zesties that you have used. The bead is very pretty but it looks like they may have been overheated and gone a bit mushy and lost definition in terms of the layers and the lines.
Here are my beads with zesties and a close up

You really need to give minimal heat and pat gently several times. Pressing the final bit in with the press usually works too.
I'll bring you a few extras to the Flame Off.

Gorgeous colours though Trudi
Thank you for the video, my murrini arrived this morning, so now I 'know' what to do with em, can't wait to have a play.
Really appreciate the vid, I've read so many 'written tutorials' on this, but had never appreciated how little heat and how to gently press in, I was practically squishing them to death before. Good job I was only ruining mass produced things and not your lovely ones.

No, they are
my beads now! ;D and they are on my beading mat waiting to be made up. ;)
Great video - you can read some instructions again and again, but to see it done makes things a lot clearer - thank you :)
Oh, and I like Trudi's ones too - nice to get different effects...
Great tutorial Kaz.
Trudi, I really love the ribbon effect in your bead.
Thanks for the comments guys! I'm looking forward to having a play tomorrow now!!! Let's see how I get on take 2!!!
Will you post pics for us?
You make it look sooooooo easy kaz!!
Can I be really cheeky and ask what you use to cut your murrini? I have some tile nippers but they just explode them everywhere. For one decent murrini cut I have a whole load of frit on the counter that was probably about 10 other attempts!!
Flipping heck Lorna you must be gutted :'(
It drives me mad Tan!! They splinter everywhere :'(
Maybe I should just buy the from Kaz ;D ;D ;D ;D
They take so much bloody work to make just to shatter them all to pieces, I bet you curse like a cursey thing dont you?
Kaz's gorgeousess is the safe and fun option, always take the safe and fun option I say ;)
Believe me Tan there is lots of fluffing and fudging in my shed when I am attempting to cut them!!
Ooooops just went shopping ;D ;D
Just had a quick go, bead is in the kiln but looking goog me thinks!!
Lorna I use the ones with a wheel cutter!
I have looked at those but they are so expensive I wanted to be sure that they work before shelling out for them :-\
Great video Kaz. Think I will have to have a play with my silver glass murrini I bought ages ago from the states, but have been too chicken to play with ;)

They do - this is the brand to buy http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Leponitt-Mosaic-Tile-Carbide-Wheel-Nippers-Glass-Cutter_W0QQitemZ310151152424QQcmdZViewItemQQptZMosaic_Tiles?hash=item4836730328 not sure if you may get a better deal if you shop around!
I have read very good things about that style on the forums myself I should imagine they are much gentler than the grindy ones
Lorna - when I first started making these, I had similar problems with some of the cutting even with the mosaic cutters. My first batch of Multicolour Mermaid did that splitting thing and I think it was down to either air (bubbles) being trapped between the layers or the underneath layer being too cold when the next layer was applied. Unlike normal encasing, it seems to help when the underneath layer is just a little bit warm but not melting.
