Title: finished jewellery 2010
Post by: mizgeorge on January 22, 2010, 11:00:46 AM
I needed something to match some lovely sunbaked beads from Julie F.  It took a bit of faffing, but I'm happy now :)

Thank you all - you're so lovely!
This is what they were for:

I thought it was about time I actually used one of my stoneset toggles!

Looks like I might be making a few more of the beads though ;)

Title: Kelly's bracelet.
Post by: Magpie on February 25, 2010, 12:30:00 PM
Kelly that does my nails holds a charity party to raise funds for cancer research each year. I made her a bracelet for a raffle prize. She loves it. The beads are red, pink and white, the colours she's using for decorating.

Title: I'm loving this.
Post by: Katiequiggle on March 02, 2010, 05:35:52 PM
I made this over the last few days, lentils and danglies of fresh water pearls and swarvoski crystals all on silver with a Karen clasp.  It's  made from a wine bottle with frit.  I wore it today and got lots of compliments especially at the hairdressers.  Not sure if its a seller or a keeper.  Think I want to wear it for a while as I'm not sure how stable the beads will be as they have frit on them. Think they'll be fine but feel I ought to check to make sure first  ;D

Title: Peaches & Dreams
Post by: Nia on March 09, 2010, 03:49:17 PM
I don't do as much with bracelets as I probably should, but I made an effort today. I managed to tear myself away from gemstone cluster earrings and pendants, and this peachy little number came to life this afternoon.
The glass is by Emma Ralph, with clusters of creamy keishi pearls wired in between Hill Tribe silver.
Hope you like!

Post by: Mary on March 25, 2010, 12:00:20 PM
I've been a bit quiet lately, had more time with the little beads than glass. Thought I'd show my two newest, a wisteria garland false lariat, and some brick stitch flowers.

One of these days I'll get round to listing patterns on my website.

Title: Bracelet Breakthrough - Finally!
Post by: Nia on March 25, 2010, 10:20:38 PM
As some of you might know, I've really struggled with bracelets for a long time now. Not I hasten to add because I don't know how to make them (and I make plenty of straightforward ones), but I have never quite managed to get my head around the fact that customers are prepared to pay as much, if not more, for a bracelet as for a necklace. So up until recently I've tried to make "economical" bracelets, and although they do sell occasionally, they aren't all that satisfying to make. But a couple of weeks ago I must have had a funny turn, and decided to throw caution to the wind, and a whole new line of bracelets was born. The first, Peaches and Dreams, you saw the other day, and has now gone to a new home. Here are a few more - huge hog, sorry.
These beads are by Clare Scott, with moonstone and freshwater pearls, Hilltribe freeform beads, and one of George's fab clasps set with a moonstone.(Now SOLD)

Title: Shut Me Up When You've Had Enough.....
Post by: Nia on March 29, 2010, 10:53:36 PM
Sorry, I am now completely hooked on my new style bracelets, and I won't be happy until I have a fresh crop of them up on the website.
But I fully understand if you get fed-up with them, I do tend to get periodic obsessions, as my Flickr friends will know only too well. Bless 'em all, they've been tolerating my gemstone cluster phase for weeks now.
Beadcaps are all from our George btw, and headpins for the gemstones are from Dragonfly Lynne.

This bracelet has glass by Beverley Edge, with Iolite, Amethyst, and Champagne Citrine, with oodles of Hill Tribe and sterling silver, and a huge Hill Tribe clasp, which was originally oxidised, but I tumbled it shiny again to fit in with the gleaming silver look of the bracelet.

The second bracelet uses gorgeous deep blue glass by Sarah Bedwell, with clusters of Lapis Lazuli, Kyanite and Labradorite, again with lots of Hill Tribe and sterling silver, and an eye-catching twisted sterling toggle clasp.

Title: Finished Jewellery Q2 2010
Post by: Nia on April 01, 2010, 11:15:49 PM

The lovely Shahlaa (Pricess Pink) very kindly sent me a set of her beads, to see what I could come up with. As soon as I opened the packet I knew exactly what I wanted to do with them, so Polka came to life a couple of days ago. The only thing I'll change eventually is the clasp - I simply cannot find the clasp I had in mind for it. It's hiding somewhere in a mountain of findings, so when I do unearth it, I'll remake it.
I used clusters of amethyst, citrine and shining black spinel, along with Hilltribe silver.
And there were three beads left over, so I turned them into a pendant style necklace using one of Dragonfly Lynne's hammered silver rings, and silks from Diane, Sowzere Designs.
All beadcaps are by George.
So if there are any lurking beadbuyers out there, have a look at Shahlaa's work, you won't be disappointed!

Post by: julieHB on April 04, 2010, 07:30:13 PM
For some reason I find this a difficult colour combo in glass.... anyway, have finally finished a commission I've been sweating over for a while, as my bead making skills have seemed to be on holiday. It's been quite a long time since I worked with silver wire, and I really enjoyed that today  :)

Post by: Ilona on April 06, 2010, 09:54:23 PM
I have treated myself and made myself some jewellery for a change.

I bought the silver Hilltribe Orchid a couple of years ago at the first Flame Off, and decided to use up a few of my tester florals and made the necklace.

The bracelet is made on elastic thread and I am pleased with how it turned out.

Title: Identify maker of seahorse please!
Post by: gemkist on April 11, 2010, 09:04:52 PM
Made this new necklace the other day. Real Emerald beads from Dawn Fuge at Precious Sparkle Beads, greek ceramic silver washers, turquoise jade, FW pearls, Bali silver scallop shell beads and a dichroic seahorse made by someone in the USA, but I can't rememebr who. Such is the problem of having a large lampwork bead stash!

I'm not sure about the delicacy of the chain vs. the weight of the seahorse, but the colours are good together. Now I just pray I don't break it when I wear it :o

Post by: gemkist on April 12, 2010, 08:30:53 AM
I bought the lampwork from Annelyse about a year ago, at the end of a Perth bead show whan I like to treat myself for a hard day's work, and then all of a sudden there were lots of beads on my desk that screamed "put me next to Annelyse's beads". So I did!

Ceramic beads in turquoise and mauve, lilac jade, Greek gold ceramic spacers.

Title: 50th birthday commission
Post by: Lush! on April 15, 2010, 05:11:48 PM
A lady made a beeline for my stall at Cheltenham bead fair a couple of weeks ago - she'd been thinking about my beads since she saw me at my first ever fair 2 years ago!  Having recently had her 50th birthday, she now had a reason to really go to town and commission a mega-set!

So she chose two Black Berry bracelets and a handful of other beads from my table.

And after a long chat and copious note-taking, we agreed on a plan.  I made quite a lot more beads, lentils for the earrings and bumpies for the necklace - and here is the finished set.

I was concerned that the necklace might be a bit overwhelming for frequent wear, so by using George's woven bail I could make the pendant detachable so she can simply wear it on the silver chain.

Its in the post, phew!
Title: Beachcomber .. couldn't have done it without the Flame Off!
Post by: Lush! on April 23, 2010, 03:56:52 PM
I was sent a lovely strand of turquoise tube-shaped beads, which have sat on my desk for a week or two, whispering to me about copper green, turquoise and dark ivory ...

The silver starfish and fish beads are from Beadsite's stall at the Flame Off.

Then I started thinking about Kaz's murrini that I bought at the FO, I didn't want to detract too much from the turquoise tubes so I kept the beads small - I used the Kalera trio press that I swapped at the FO.  The second necklace is much longer, and is strung on silk cord for a change.

I've decided to wear this one as a bracelet, but I'm still working on a way to pull it tight - any ideas welcome!

I think I might have been thinking a little about Kaz's Flame Off necklace too!

p.s. if anyone has any tips on where on earth the hallmark stamp can go I'd be forever grateful :D

For pieces made with rings over 1mm gauge, I have the hallmark stamped onto a ring (must be soldered closed). For anything too fine, I attach a tag (again, they prefer this to be soldered on). Alternatively, you can have it laser marked.

A quick release toggle would be a brilliant idea, Nick, I can't imagine how I'd cover it though  ???

I can't help myself showing these off all over the place, I'm grinning from ear to ear - I actually gave Andrea Guarino a hug and told her I loved her when she taught us how to make these off-mandrel hearts!

Title: Spring time in the midst of Winter!
Post by: nemea on May 03, 2010, 03:18:45 PM
It's like the middle of winter here today so I thought I'll bring some sunshine in! Initially I thought these were like confetti but in fact they remind me of blossom petals that the wind has blown on the ground. I love that when it happens. It's nature's carpet!

Apologies for only posting links. I still can't get the hang of it! The lovely lampwork is by Shahlaa.

Title: Some jewellery I have made for me. (major hog warning)
Post by: Pandanimal on May 04, 2010, 08:39:15 PM
I have just realised as I started typing that I havn't told you all my news about my trip to Iona! So I will start with that.
I am going to Iona on Thursday 6th to attend a writers and Artists retreat. I am told it is a wonderful, spiritual place and I am hoping to come back refreshed and inspired. This year has been the worst winter for me since my son was first ill 13 years ago so, god knows, I can do with a bit of time off to recharge.
So...to treat myself I decided to make some jewellery for myself and here are some photos I managed to snap this afternoon.

Title: My Commission in Mustard
Post by: Blue Kiln Beads on May 05, 2010, 10:33:16 PM
A little while ago Sal (Red Hot Sal) very kindly sent me some Mustard coloured glass for a commission I had.  The brief was "like this but in mustard with some orange".  The orange isn't as orange in the flesh.  My customer chose the necklace and earrings with the mustard disc, and it looked really good with her outfit (if I say so myself)

Title: Finished Jewellery Q2 2010
Post by: mizgeorge on May 07, 2010, 09:09:36 AM
a little collaboration

I was lucky enough to have this gorgeous cab from Julie HB arrive at my house yesterday, with one of Kaz's fantastic murrine in the middle.

Instead of doing all the things I was meant to be doing (like going to bed) I gave in at about 11pm and turned it into a ring. And I'm wearing it now!

Title: One of those duh moments
Post by: mizgeorge on May 13, 2010, 10:37:31 PM
I've been faffing around for ages trying to think of an easy, swappable earring design for bhbs.

I felt a bit of an idiot when I was starting off a batch of new bracelets, and realised I'd already done it. The chain is identical to the one used on my bhb bracelets, both the clasped and toggle version. And after I took the pics, I realise they even look quite nice on their own ;)

They can be made to pretty much any length - this 'standard' version takes one or two beads happily, and three at a bit of a push (and a bit heavy for me). I like them with just one, and some chain showing. These lovely beads were from Becky.

The first is a birthday present for my friend Anne - which I made to go with the lovely pearl grey suede fringed handbag I got her for her birthday!

The second was commissioned by my friend Tina - she wanted a striking pendant and earrings to go with a royal blue scooped neck dress. I agonised over this but she has just emailed me to say it arrived and she loves it!!! (Phew!)

Title: Stock for Dorset Art Weeks... d'you think I've got enough? (Hog alert!)
Post by: nemeton on May 27, 2010, 11:47:18 AM
I will be setting up tomorrow for the Dorset Art Weeks open studios - have gone beyond the rushing-about-in-a-panic stage and got to the just-want-it-all-to-be-over-now stage... anyways everything is sorted, cleaned, boxed and priced and I have sorted it into themes so we can have a different look in each room of the house. There seems to be a lot more beadwork than I thought...  ::)

Title: I'm Really Proud of this..
Post by: Veebee on June 02, 2010, 02:47:20 PM
This is the first time I've designed a beadwork project from idea, to sketch book, to deciding which stitches and colours to use and the final execution! It's my most ambitious piece to date, it took three days to make, and I'm just chuffed to bits with the way it turned out. I've never used coral stitch before, nor have I ever tried graduating colour like this!
Oh, and the wire wrapped lampie is one of my own too  :D

Title: For a gift.....
Post by: Kaz on June 03, 2010, 09:48:10 AM
Well, here's the thing. When my friend Anne came to stay, we went out for dinner with a couple who are friends of hers who I don't really know. They paid for dinner and would not take money off us. So, my friend Anne suggested I send the wife a piece of jewellery to say thanks (she is big on handcrafted stuff!). So I have prevaricated, made several beads and sets of beads I wasn't entirely happy with and then finally plumped for these.
I hope she likes them!

Title: A few bits I've got made this week
Post by: nemeton on June 07, 2010, 10:07:27 AM
In between chatting to visitors at our 'open studio' (I am becoming very knowledgeable about photography as well as about beads!) I've been managing to get a bit of beading done  :)
This is some of Tan's lovely tabs and some delicious olive jade
(http://i153.photobucket.com/albums/s217/retrobeader/Dorset%20Art%20Weeks%202010/06jungreenbr.jpg)
I made two pairs of starfish earrings yesterday for a customer to choose from - and she couldn't decide so she bought both (I do love that sort of indecisive customer, as opposed to the other sort who spends ages not making a decision and then walks away!)
This is a sparkly experiment that worked better than I was expecting
(http://i153.photobucket.com/albums/s217/retrobeader/Dorset%20Art%20Weeks%202010/04junpot.jpg)
And I made another pair of 'icicle' earrings in softer blues
(http://i153.photobucket.com/albums/s217/retrobeader/Dorset%20Art%20Weeks%202010/02junbluesparks.jpg)

I am hoping that the next week (we have Mon and Tues 'off' and then we're open Wed-Sun) will be so busy that I'll have no beading time and nothing to show you next Monday!  :P
Title: Seaside Jewellery ... lotsa pics!
Post by: Lush! on June 09, 2010, 01:19:05 PM
I've had a one track mind lately, and I blame Kaz for a lot of it!  It was her idea that I contact a local gallery about taking my jewellery ... I've got my second meeting with them next week and here's a preview of what I'm going to be showing them.  (Couldn't have done it without her wonderful murrini!)

Mahoooooosive thanks to George for a fantastic day yesterday, a brilliant 'brangle' design and tons of help, teaching and advice - my brain is now detangled and able to function again  :-*

Title: A long time project finally finished
Post by: julieHB on June 17, 2010, 03:40:03 PM
A good friend of ours asked for a "special" bracelet for his partner. She likes strong colours and is often found with brightly coloured and patterned scarfs.... I don't know her, which makes it more difficult, but after a few goes forth and back this is what our friend says he's happy with:

(http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1307/4709025774_b7f65a95b6.jpg) (http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1307/4709025774_b7f65a95b6.jpg)

I have always strived to make my wire wrapping as neat and "perfect" as possible, and to make this "whimsical" wrapping I found rather hard! But I am a great admirer of Kerry Bogert's jewellery, and I am sure many of you can see it's inspired by Kerry's "Totally Twisted".

A seaside cab by (and for) Ms Lush :)
Took a bit of fiddling with the bezel to make it work, but I'm pleased....

DD came home yesterday and asked me if I would make a necklace as a present for one of her teachers. 'No problem' I said.......then she told me she needed it for today, the (student) teacher is leaving this afternoon  :o

Anyway, inspired by Jacqui (A String of Beads), and a rather fab necklace that DH bought from her for my birthday, this is what I came up with...

Finished my necklace. I ended up taking off the rather crap end crimps and used coils of wire instead. The finish isn't wonderful but I like it a lot better like this! It has a swan neck hook that I'm not photographing too closely  ;)

Title: Finished Jewellery Q3 2010
Post by: Linz on July 01, 2010, 01:29:48 PM
I've finished a couple of pieces recently and I thought I'd show them. Apologies if you have already seen these already, but I am trying to show more of my pieces!  :)

First up is a commissioned bracelet I made:

I used my own lampwork beads in beautiful Sangre and M. Red glasses, with lots of Swarovskis and Sterling Silver!

Next is another commissioned piece:

Made using my bobbly beads in light aqua (one of my favourite glasses!) and cobalt blue.

Then I made a couple of teddy bear pendants to list in my shop - I am slightly in love with these as I woke up with a picture of them in my head and was really pleased with how they turned out:

I used colour co-ordinated Swarovskis and I etched my teddy beads once I had made them to give them that soft "teddy bear" feel!

I've lots more exciting pieces in the pipeline, am just waiting for the deliveries to get here to start!!  :D I hope you like my jewellery!  :)

Rather than hog with loads of individual photos I took a photo of the board with all the jewellery on it.

Photo doesn't do it justice since I only had my phone with me, next week I'll have to remember to take a better one with a proper camera.

It was two of my friends' birthdays last weekend, so I made these:

(http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4077/4759782341_20b9ed1b5e_b.jpg) (http://www.flickr.com/photos/kalorlo/4759782341/)
Ivory and dark turquoise etched beads, unetched spacers, Greek ceramic washers and sterling findings on silver leather.

(http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4115/4760416968_20a52f3f5a_b.jpg) (http://www.flickr.com/photos/kalorlo/4760416968/)
Periwinkle and white beads, Greek ceramic spacers and sterling findings on waxed cotton cord. With a Totoro!

(http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4081/4760417072_c0692f2852.jpg) (http://www.flickr.com/photos/kalorlo/4760417072/)

And this was a prototype for the Totoro necklace that I wasn't happy with. I think it needed larger beads and I don't like the ends. It looks very small and sparse when actually worn.

Do you remember this necklace that Jolene showed some time ago?
http://www.frit-happens.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=20358.msg350600#msg350600

She was wearing it when she came to my Devon meet a week ago, and we were many who ooohed and aaahed over it!!  :) Soo, every time I've been at the torch this week I have made a bead or two, using beadysam's purple rose frit (and some lapis blue and green), and have made my own version. I love it - thank you, Jolene, for sharing this very simple but great design!!  :-* The beads were teamed by silver fused ceramic beads and strung on one of Diane's chiffon ribbons.

Here's my summer necklace:

Well here's the rest of the lot - 10 more hearts-to-be-charms and a couple of baby aliens - I know, Emma is not facing any critter competition from this direction  :D :D but son thought they were awesome, and that's all that matters  ;) They are now all wire-wrapped and packed and kids have made cards.....

I'm going to Tenerife in a couple of days and I decided to make myself some bright and sunny jewellery to wear.

I made these beads specifically to match my favourite new top.  I've been fancying a bracelet like this for ages but my brain really struggled to work out how to do it!  The crimp is hidden underneath the spacer beads.

The idea of using buttons popped into my head when I was walking the dog yesterday.  I had to make the bracelet as soon as I got home, but the necklace had to wait till I made the spacers last night.

I think I need a black version too ...

I made this for myself because I love these beads! They are made by Sarah Downton,  it is difficult to capture the lovely blues and purples in this photo but I thought I'd post it anyway!

I treated myself to Kim Neely's Ether tutorial, and I wanted to make something nice with the beads. So I came up with these beaded tube beads. I finally managed to get decent photos.

This one uses some of Georges gorgeous silver rings with beaded links.

Made this with a Lush Lampwork bumpy hollow that I'd been hoarding.  You know how it is - you get a bead and don't want to spoil it, so you never get round to using it :-[...so I thought I'd just do something simple with it until my wire-wrapping skills get better :). It ties with a velvet ribbon. Will be wearing this on my hols in Cornwall 8)

No lampies, but heat was involved in the making of these necklaces... :)

I made these as a birthday present for a friend and her baby daughter. I had the idea a year ago when the daughter was born, but I haven't had time until now. The pendants are fine silver (PMC) with green cubic zirconias. The chain is sterling silver with a few green Swarovski bicones.

Hi Everyone

I've been making up some necklaces with my lampwork collection  8)

Does anyone recognise this bead??  It didn't have a tag on it, and I can't remember who made it, I have a feeling it was one of the beads from my Apprentice stash but am not sure??

I've only just got around to finishing off these braids. The green is leather thonging while the rest are made with cotton cord so that they can be spruced up if they get soiled. The last one is a sixteen strand hollow braid with a necklet threaded through. Sorry, don't remember the proper name. All a bit wacky but I prefer wacky to girly girly.

This is the necklace I made with the Fimo beads from Dizzy Di's Fimo course last saturday. I've only used silver plate wire as the links take between 8 and 9 inches each depending on whether a bead is included on them. They are joined with aluminium green coated jump rings.

I'm sorry I haven't been posting on here lately, but what with being away selling for much of the summer, I haven't had all that many new pieces to show, and anything new I reckon a lot of you have seen either on Flickr or FB. But I had to show you these two necklaces which I've made in the last few days, from a couple of sets of our Fi's new boro beads.
Some of the shots are in natural daylight, the way I normally photograph, but a few are in outdoor sunlight in order to show off the glass.
The blue necklace has the addition of gorgeous irridescent kyanite, and the hot pink one has mystic quartz nuggets as well as clusters of pink sapphires, amethyst, garnet and carnelian.
Hope you like!

Today is the first day that I have ever worn my own work!

I will not be doing it after today, as my beads have not yet been kiln annealed and until they are I don't want them to break, so they will go back into the jar for a while!!  But! I just HAD to have one day of wearing my Troll bracelets made with my own beads! ;D

The silver beads are Trolls but all the glasswork is my efforts.  It was a real buzz to go to work this morning wearing stuff that I had made myself!

Here's a pic.   Not everyone's taste, I know, as some of the beads are rather chunky!

;D

It was made with one of my encased roses beads, white pearls, Swarovski crystals and sterling silver.

Thanks for looking! :)

But I finally made something  ;D

I'm calling this the "Cherry Blossom Sky" range, as I am putting together a bracelet and earrings too. This is my own lampwork with crystal chips and sterling.

Need to get a better pic, but you get the idea  ;)

Thanks

Actually its both.
I have been wanting for ages to have a go at beadweaving with my own lampies and now I have. The original idea I had was to make something with just little spacer beads so it could be less costly but seeing as I ended up using over 80 of my beads I think I failed on cost side but I love what I have made.

Here are some pictures.

Bit of a hog, sorry. but i do love it! the colours are much more purple in real life than they are showing on my monitor, the big disc is my very favourite silver plum. And there is silver black and red copper green and I cant remember what else.

I need to make some more littlies now and do some more. I wonder if I can make enough small ones to have a go at circular peyote?

Far from perfect but I am working on that.

Put together with silver wrapped clusters of gold pyrite, green apatite, smoky quartz, fluorite and tourmaline, Hill Tribe and sterling silvers.
Hope you like!

I used Diane's strings to finish these polymer hearts, not sure how to finish the strings yet so I've left them so they can be tied at the moment, also not sure how long to keep them, I quite like them really short, but I may leave one longer.

These earrings have taken soo long they have become a quest. ??? Blood, sweat and tears doesn't even begin to describe the effort to finish them.
The one on the far right was the original I was working from. (My friend had lost one and loved them, so I said 'Yeah, I can make a pair like that - no problem!' Remind me to keep my mouth shut in future! ;D )

Just want to say thank you to Angie, Terry, David, Trudi and Kirsty B (who may not even remember she helped a looong time ago). All have contributed in their own way.

Sorry about the photo. I'm too tired to care :o

They are brass bronze clay clip-ons with black/cz beads.

And I know its basic.... but I have spent tonight trying to get my head around tiger tail wire, jump rings and crimps.... after watching some YouTube videos....

And this is the result!

My own beads are a bit wonky for a set, size wise, but I am pretty pleased with it, all the same.

I have never made any jewellery before.

Opinions would be most welcome! :)

I was rushing about getting these ready for Halloween. I made the blue hollow necklace to wear to the Big Bead Show - something of a rush job and I think I'll remake it because I don't like how it hangs. The clasp also tends to slide round to the side. I think I'll ream it out a bit more and put it on 2mm leather instead. Or else knot some beads on the sides. (It's a perennial problem - I keep making beads on 2mm mandrels and wanting to put them on 2mm cord, and they don't fit by default. Should possibly go up a mandrel size but I really like the 2mm ones!). The swan neck clasp is currently on the other necklace as I only made one  ;D

(http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1319/5164776611_089b76ba6d.jpg) (http://www.flickr.com/photos/kalorlo/5164776611/)

And... PUMPKINS! I love this necklace - it's comfy and hangs well and I usually never wear orange but this cheers me up.

(http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4028/5165380486_9c771af5a9.jpg) (http://www.flickr.com/photos/kalorlo/5165380486/)

The pumpkins are CiM creamsicle and the big one is hollow. The small opaque lighter orange beads are pastel yellow (only got 1 rod of creamsicle), the other spacers are CiM clockwork and transparent dark grass green. I do love the CiM oranges.

There's a slight oddity at the back because I was sleepy and snipped the cord in the wrong place, so I had to add an emergency bit. Dangers of jewellery-making without much sleep! I should restring it, really, but the chances of doing that in the near future are rather low...

People keep telling me this necklace is Christmassy, so I think I'm going to declare them Christmas pumpkins and wear it then too  ;D

Well, this is their first public airing other than me wearing them for a few days as I like them so much. I've only really made earrings using headpins etc til now. Really wanted to start using silver, but wasnt sure where to start so went along to Lilian Busch, a local silver/gold/pearl contemporary jeweller whose work I really love. She gave me a swift run over the simplest of tools such as wire types/hammer/stake and the best advice which was....with wire, it's only your imagination that will set the limit...

Ordered some stuff, and came up with these with the help from my DH. The beads look the same in daylight, but one has fumed a bit more from the Triton dots which is more exagerated in the lighting in the picture. They move beautifully when you wear them! Reckon I might make a few more and eventually put on my website.

Enough blether, I could blether for Britain ;D
Hope you like.

Two necklaces from me using beautiful hollows from Ray Skene, Sublimekate has matched up the discs and spacers, I'm really happy with these. The purple/blue one is for me  :) Yay.

I know, I seem to show nothing but rings at the moment. I do love making them though ;)

Someone will know who this is for, but I'm not telling ;)

Almost impossible to capture boro loveliness in artificial light - and it's a whopper too - the finished ring is about 1" across.

I got my hands on some of Julie's fabulous discs, and have been experimenting with a different way to use them.

After a couple of not great attempts, here's one I'm happy with :)

Cos I'm off to Egypt tomorrow!  A week lying by the pool, basking in the sunshine and as much food and drink as I can stuff in - hopefully the snow will be gone when I get back (hopefully the snow won't mean Birmingham Airport decides to close overnight or I'll be the one that's stuffed and sulking).

Anyway, I made some new jewellery to take with me (all silver not done by me is "by george!")

A couple of Toggle pendants

George riveted this disc, and the bracelet is one that she put together on our class at Manda's.

I first attempts at using my Puffy heart press, one of the small hearts does have a bit of a ridge down one side where I got too much glass in the press.

They are actually a lovely deep purple colour but that did not come out to well in the photo.

The silver flowers were a project in a resent Beads and Beyond.

One of my dearest friends, who's a member here, and who many of you met at the GBUK fair earlier this year, has recently been allowed to go home after nearly three years in hospital. Today is her wedding anniversary, and her lovely hubby commissioned me and Julie to make something special for her.

Here's what we came up with - a maille lariat with a clasp end and a selection of pendants to add. She has an amazing collection of focal beads, and I hope this will be a lovely way to wear more of them!
