Title: Is there a Tutorial for basic flower encased beads
Post by: Trudi on March 17, 2007, 09:50:44 PM
I can't seem to find one - I've tried having a go and failed miserably!!

My stringers aren't great - I've used the method by pulling one end of the rd with tweezers - and it's not great so far - I might try melting the middle of a cane next (but I have ordered some stringers!)

How do I get clean dots on the surface - and when to use the rake - in or out of the flame - I have no idea!

Help please!

Thanks

How about this one? click here (http://www.wetcanvas.com/forums/showpost.php?p=3819157&postcount=1)
There are other ways of encasing, the link just shows one. :)

Can't help with encased florals but for the stringer make sure you take the gather out of the flame & allow it to cool just a little before you pull. That should help you to get an even stringer.

Personally I pull stringers using a small pair of pliers, I melt a blob, take it out of the flame, grab it with my pliers while its hot, wait till a think skin forms and then pull.  Fast pull for thin stringers, slow for thicker ones (you get better at judging this).
