Post by: flowerjasper on January 16, 2009, 06:48:59 PM
well not really, i love my hothead, the only problem i have just brought some frit mixes from val cox, osalot spots amongst them, it is a reactive mix with iris gold in it, i cant stop it going black and yucky  >:(
it is so pretty in the jar and i had high hopes of some animally print beads but all i have is grey .
any suggestions,
sandy

I used to use Ocelot Spots on my HH. Try putting it on black and encasing, it goes blue/green! Are you putting it on ivory? It doesn't like that.

Also try melting it in slowly and in the cooler part of the flame.  I tend to have a problem with frits that contain rubino oro for that same reason :(  I'm just not patient enough! lol :)

Hope you get on with it better!

One of my favourites Ocelot Spots.. here's what I did on my hothead....
white base
melt in frit until very hot
allow to cool a little
reduce until dark brown
introduce into the far end of the flame and turn until done...
then either encase or just leave as it is...
works a treat every time
Also... try raking your fritty bead before reducing or letting it gravity swirl before reducing.. really nice effects...
