Hubby has brought my kiln into the house as he says it's too cold in my studio (ie shed ;D)
He's a bit worried the cold weather will mess about with the electronics.
It's now sitting in the middle of my table, which is very annoying.
Is it wise to hve it indoors in the winter, or is it made to withstand the low temperatures. We had -3 last night :o

Well mine's been out in the garage for the last 5 or so years and never complained of the cold, I do though :( it's flippin freezin out there :o
mines in the shed & seems happy enough ;)
mine was reading -6 the other day and fired up ok, I sometimes get condensation about the bead doors when its warming up but so far so goo (fingers crossed I didn't speak to soon!) My electrician wired it straight into the mains in my shed so I can't unplug it!
I suspect it won't mind the cold - mine doesn't seem to mind - but it won't like damp.
Yep, really it's the electronics that would be the weak link but there are kilns in sheds up and down the country, I even know of one customer with their kiln in a leen-to!!!!
There is no real reason to bring the kiln into the house as modern day electronics should be able to withstand the worst a "typical" British winter can throw at it if it is in the shed etc.
Sal's right though, too much damp could be problematic.

I'm kinda curious as to how one can have a cold shed that DOESN'T get damp in this country ??? ;D
The two sort of go hand in hand don't they?
I have lots of those moisture trap things secreted around my shed which seem to help a lot, except when I forget to empty them and they overflow everywhere.
