Title: Recycling for plunged dots
Post by: Kaz on November 10, 2008, 11:03:24 PM
I have been making some plunged dot beads and I kept thinking that I didn't like the tungsten poker or Sam's pointy proddy tool for these - finding that they were both a bit thick and a bit long to ensure you targeted the right spot. I had been thinking of trying to locate a thin bodkin but then it suddenly came to me - all those worn out diamond tips from the bead reamer/dremel! I tried one today and it was just perfect - you can get really up close and it made really spot on bubbles!!!

nice one Kaz, I will give that a go next time I feel like ruining another bead with my plunged dots...maybe I won't ruin it next time  ;)

That is a really good tip!!
For nice big bubbles i use an embossing tool like what they use in card making  ;D

an old bent mandrel you can't use anymore is also good, i find the 1.6mm ones work best

Fantastic idea Kaz - as you say you can get closer - which is good for me with my 'Heath Robinson' glasses ;D

what a great idea!  I use all kinds of odd items from the hardware store too.
