Title: Double helix stress
Post by: lemon kitten on September 18, 2008, 05:35:33 PM
I've bough a rod each of Triton and phsyche (is that how you spell it??) from Martin.  But I have'nt a clue how to work it.  I am using a HH torch and I don't know if I should get the glass really hot or not, where in the flame to work it etc.  I have tried to search on the site for tips and tricks, but all I get is lovely pics of gorgeous beads you guys have made with the stuff.  I think Martin suggested I blocked off the holes in the HH to get a cooler flame and work it that way but I can't remember....heeeeelp!!!

They are both reduction glasses. You should do fine on the HH. Try here. Hope that helps!

Hi Janey,
I'm a newbie on a HH too and found that with triton i just melt as usual, apply to bead, melt in then allow it to cool a bit then pop it in a reduction flame (cover the holes in the HH with a thickish strip of baking foil to do this). I don't put the bead right at the top of the bushy reduction flame, just about the middle for a few seconds. Also i've found that if you do this a few times you tend to get a mix of colours appear rather than just the mirror effect - which is lovely but sometimes it's nice to get different effects too.
Hope this helps.
