Title: Fusing Classes, Kiln Hire?
Post by: Sarah999 on September 09, 2008, 02:07:56 PM
Hi.
I was wondering if any one knew of any where in or arround Nottingham where I can borrow a kiln to do some funsing work until I can afford one of my own?

Thanks

Hi Sarah

We're running a one day fusing class at the Long Eaton Art Room in November,  Sunday 2nd.

You can also hire the kiln there - I am not sure how the fees work for it, as we only tried the kiln for fusing in summer, and its a huge kiln, so not sure how the fees structure will be working -

Contact Mary Stewart at the art room, she'll be able to tell you more.

Not Nottingham but there is a massive one at my nearest glass place in Calverley, Near Leeds (www.pvsuk.net (http://www.pvsuk.net))  It would only take an hour or so depending on where abouts you are.  Their glass is compatible with float AKA window glass, so if you use a lot of clear in your designs then you can end up quids in!

Are the materials included in the £35 deposit for the course at Long Eaton? I think I might have to get my self there, I miss not being able to make glass things so much at uni!
I am definately going to email and ask how much it is to use the kiln!

Hi Sarah

Yes, the £35 includes materials (and I might even bring cake!) -  Enough glass for perhaps a few pendants, a coaster/wall plaque or 2, and there'll be float glass available, which if I can carry on begging, will be as much as you can use!
