Title: Would this be ok to use for boro?
Post by: Rachel on August 08, 2008, 02:27:30 PM
Hi guys

I've been looking at some welding glasses to use temporarily while I try some boro and I found this shade 5 face shield
http://www.diywelding.co.uk/product_details.asp?d=5&c=26&p={FA53A30F-D303-4C9A-99FC-AE2EA8609C5A}

Do you think it would be OK to use with my didys underneath?

Quick answer is yes although I thought a bit dark at grade 5, 3 would have been better. The obvious danger is that if you cant see clearly then there is a chance of burning yourself. It all depends on what you are doing with boro. I have used grade 5 and looked above specs when glass is just going in flame then quickly reverting back to looking though filter. Its  a risk but worth it I believe.

Thanks Ian - I did wonder if 5 would be too dark.  I'll have a look to see if I can find a shade 3 anywhere.
