Title: Help with indentifying yellows!
Post by: Amber on June 30, 2008, 06:53:23 PM
I don't use yellow often, but I've got a couple from my starter pack that I really like - I just can't figure out what they are!

I thought the top one could be daffodil (I'm assuming they're all effetre), no idea about the second, it's more of a light orange. The third could be medium or dark yellow and the last can only be acid yellow?! I don't like the last two, I only put them in for comparison because the pictures aren't that good.

Any ideas?  :-\

Second one looks like 418 to me.
You can buy smaller quantities from Off Mandrel shop - I think even by the rod.

If you scroll down on Tuffnell's site you'll find the 1/4 kilo packs - he lists the 1/2 kg first then the 1/4
I find it easier to use the search facility on the site and less chance of getting distracted into buying other stuff ;D

I've also got a yellow problem!
Somebody lovely gave me (amongst other gorgeous things) a rod of a yellow glass that is definitely a bit lighter and less red than acid yellow, but not as creamy as banana cream (or certainly not the couple of rods I've got). Any ideas?  I absolutely love it, and I'm down to the last few inches!

George, could it be that someone lovely has treated you to a rod of opal yellow?  I believe it strikes, and if you are lucky and get some from the "right" lot it can give beautiful shades of yellow/cream/pink...

George, was it bundled with edp, copper green and rubino? If so then it was opal yellow. :)

Ooooh Shirley! You're a star (and have a memory to die for!). It was, and now I know what I'm after. Thank you SO much!

Glad to be of service, George. :)

The only thing with opal yellow is that the batches vary a bit. Some of it is very pale. I guess that's the fun thing about the fancy colours! ;D
