What about our own Sandy, based here in the UK. Great quality products and a darling to deal with too.   ;) http://www.spheresofglass.com

And a little further afield in Holland is our very own Maria Louisa!

I like the look of beads from presses too. But there is a little bit of me that shouts "Noooo"
I'm worried that if I get a press, suddenly, all my beads will be the same size and shape!
I'm not sure if that would be good for me.

You'll be lucky !!!  I haven't managed to get two the same size yet !!  Mind you, I'm not using and practising with them enough, I guess.

I've finally changed my minds about using a press but I wanted to know which ones people recommend for press virgins?

I'm looking for something triangular or tab like as I'm wanting to hand paint the beads after making them...

Hi Rachel

If you are going to the bead show in Perth at the end of the month there will be some for sale. You can even pre-order from Tuffnell Glass and pick it up at the show to save on postage.

Unfortunatly I'm at the Glass Furnace from the 28th till 14th September so will miss the fair and Tuffnells only seems to have 3 different presses....

They had more than 3 presses at Norwich on Saturday, and I know Martin has a new order coming in too.

Does anyone know if a "trapezoid" press is available anywhere?

I didn't know about the FHF, today I found a link in the Austrian lampworker forum.
Yes the Pandora Style is very special, I believe it's the only press for 5mm mandrels on the market.

Thanks for replying Matthias, is there a way to translate your site into English?

You don't have the shape I am looking for (trapezoid focal bead press that is narrower at one end), but your ring mandrel looks good.

Thanks Mary, but no....more this sort of shape:

Kite shape's not a bad one though.

You could ask Amy at Zoozzii, she sometimes does custom presses.

That's a good idea, that's where I bought my other presses from.  Can't hurt to ask!
Cheers Mary.

So does Matthias (paterperlo) - just ask him!

I like the look of the ring mandrel, the counterweight is a really good idea.
