Hi ya guys, I am a big fan of sams playtrays, only this time I'm in over my head. I got a silver play tray with my last frit order(couldn't resist), but now I'm a bit stuck!
I don't really use silver glass so has anyone got any suggestions?
I have been making 'fritter Critters' with all my other frit but I think I may like to make some 'grown up' beads with this.
I will have a go at all suggestions ;D

Try rolling in frit, reducing, then encasing. Kronos is cool for that. What colours did you get?

I got lots and lots of colours but there all at the studio. Will have a looksie in the morning.
Hiya hun
They aren't `silver' like Khaos or Terra etc are silver. They have waaaay more depth of colour than other frits and can be very reactive. My faves are Kugler Silver Blue and Zimmerman Silver Aqua. The Silver Aqua can be plain old aqua - or it can go blue green and yellow, just on simple Effetre white. Cook it a lot and you get quite an aged rustic look. Kugler Silver blue is very special. It even curls at the edges sometimes (the green reacts the same). They all reduce nicely, mainly to a silver colour, but some go a rainbow metallic and are stunning. I'm not crazy about reduction frits to be honest, I find they can look `mucky' but the silver ones are worth reducing. I also like reduction just done in patches - if you make big enough beads it can be quite effective. Of course, over silver they all look stunning too. Their main selling point is that they are just somehow different, they have more zing, more oomph and more va va va voom!! ;D I'm on the wrong computer so I have no piccys but I'll see what I can find for you....
Right, heres an old pic of Kugler Silver Blue (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v496/beadysam/Ksilverblue2105.jpg)
It was used pretty heavily on those tester beads but I think works better if you use less.
Kevan on LE really makes it sing...

Thanks, Emma, looking forward to it!! I have a couple of the Sam's beautiful trays already, and don't have a clue what to do with it, so an ickle show and tell would be brill!!!! ;D

Just play, play and play some more! ;D
Oooh, I'm playing, Sam, playing all the time, so much in fact, that I had to find myself a bigger fuglie jar today... ;D ;D ;D Not at all d/t your beautiful frits, though, I must insist on that :-*
Hope you don't mind me adding these - I love the silver aqua and the silver blue, these beads are made with both! :)
I've just realised that the second is not the bead I was thinking of, and is actually rocio, but the first is definately the silver blue and aqua frit from Sam.. sorry! I've left it though, cos I thought it was interesting to see how similar they are..
I got mine from Sam today too, but not had time to do anything other than drool. I want to try them all out reduced and not reduced on a light glass and a dark one to keep as a reference as to what they do, any suggestions which light and dark glass to use? Like white and black or ivory and blue, I only have effetre at the mo.
Don't use ivory to test on - you often get a brown reaction that is just yuckky. Clear can also be pretty! ;)
Make lots like the second bead - I love the non-round shape of it ;D
Did you have a play Em ?? ?? ??
Got any piccies ??
;D

Some of the silver glasses look great on clear - then reduced you'll get a "stained glass wondow" effect!
