Title: pysche frit
Post by: flowerjasper on February 26, 2008, 05:26:51 PM
i have just had some pysche frit from double helix, not had much joy so far,
what base should i use?
i got some colours on a white base, reaction/blacklines with ivory, clear was disapointing, i got a bit of "oil on water" shine with lausha cocoa, then the bead cracked!!
a step by step hothead guide to pysche would be gratefully recieved,
sandy

anything, i'd start with black, that always looks good.

I love transparent but not the very pale ones but thats me personally

You could always pull stringer with the frit?  I haven't used psyche frit only rods but it looks great on petrol green, mustard yellow, cobalt blue and opal yellow is yum! ;D

I've only used rods, but would add striking red or trans. amethyst as a base, then Psyche frit and encase. I used to find the thing with Psyche and a hothead was that it is quite easy to over-reduce, but if you give it just a quick rolling blast through the bottom of the flame you should be ok!

Are you reducing it?
You need to reduce it first to get it to strike - otherwise you'll just get a purple colour.
Reduce it until you see greens/blues and then try and hit it with a bit of oxygen, (higher in the flame for HH).
As said before it is very easy to over-reduce - or "burn".
Looks good on ivory.
