Can anyone give me some tips on which colours work well as a base to the DH glass.
I am wanting to purchase some but may need to consider some base colours too.
Good question Pam, I'd like to know that too!
I think sal used black on her stacked psyche dots but I am not certain.
Gaia is nice on silver rattan and silver cinnamon from ask104.
Black or cobalt are good for "boosting" the silver colours, they seem to repel silver so it comes to the surface. Ivory reacts, nice with Aion. Rubino reacts too, and I second the silver cinnamon. I like them with almost everything!
other silver colours can produce some nice reactions, my favourite are elektra and gaia together. Also an unlikely base is transparent striking red

Great question Pam, I've got some Psyche on the way and I wasn't sure what it works best on. And I've got some Elektra and Aion frits here that I've had no luck with yet, I'm going to try that striking red tip, and I'll bring the frits at the weekend.
I'm ordering some Van gough etc but I just don't know where to start. I have used Gaia on ivory and love the effect there but its a bit predictable. It would be such a shame to waste such expensive glass.
sometimes with posh silver glass I encase it OVER vetrofond clear to make it go further.

Nodding furiously in agreement ;D
Swirling the silver glasses over clear is a really nice effect.
Effetre ink blue, trans turquoise and cobalt blue make a nice base, also Reichenbach 104 gold purple. Effetre trans amber and amethyst (purple) seem to react nicely with Aion as well. Actually, they do react with lots to make nice effects! Just have fun experimenting! If you pull stringers they go much further..
Psyche over CIM lapis is a new favourite of mine :)
Ooooh Shirley I'm testing Lapis for CiM at the moment, I'll have to try that! It seems to do lnice things with silver the Lais does doesnt it? Isnt it a divine colour?
I like opal yellow under many of the silver glasses; it usually behaves in interesting and unexpected ways. Since it's pricey, I often make a base bead of whatever ugly glass I have lying around, and encase it with the opal yellow.
ugly ??? glass ???

ugly ??? glass ???
What I mean by "ugly glass" is, various scummy clears that I've bought....some odd lots that were odd for a good reason, etc. etc. Some glass is only pretty when it's completely covered up by
other glass, lol.
I love lapis, Claire - there are two focals on my webby made with lapis and psyche. Both quite different effects even though I didn't really do anything different as far as I can remember
Tried some Gaia over silver rattan last night- B e a u t i f u l. Thats a really good como Claire, many thanks.
I've tried transparent grey with silver foil and then encased terra dots and got a great reaction - can't show you a bead at the moment because they sold straight away.
