Title: stringers
Post by: sandmor1 on May 22, 2014, 06:41:24 AM
Hello

Is there anyway to produce stringers as thin as the ones on BE Collage Glass. Even my 1mm stringers fuse to about twice the width I am looking for.

I am guessing this is a production technique and not something the hobbyists can do.....

It's easy if you have a torch...

If you want hair fine stringer, don't let the blob cool ( as in the video ) but pull immediately. If you don't have a torch, perhaps you have a local flameworker who can do this for you.

There are some really thin stringer packs on the website www.beadbug.co.uk
These are System 96, Uroboros and are in mixed colour packs.

It's not!  It's one of the first things I get complete beginners to do when they want to try lampworking.  It gets them used to how the glass works when it's hot.  So long as you're careful, you'll be fine.
