Hi, just wondered if I could use the end bits of glass rods that are left over to make my own frit if I crush them up?

Yes, you can.
Connect a short piece to a clear rod, then melt a ball and mash into as thin a paddle as you can. reheat, then dip in a jar of clean water - frit!

But if you're going to make it from 104 rods be aware that the end results will be insipid as the standard frit you can buy is made from colour saturated glass.

If anyone is interested, I have an Anraku Frit Maker (I call it Fritzilla!) and some of their graded sieves, which I'd be interested in parting with. Please PM me for more info.
I now and have been making my own 104 coe frit for a while. To get away from the scum, I clip my used rods off, and then melt, flatten then dip in icy cold water, then dry. Brilliant use of rod ends :)
