Title: How to remove the crimped brass thingy from propane pipe - with pictures
Post by: Margram on May 05, 2013, 05:45:45 PM
I felt a bit daunted by task of changing my propane pipe so I thought I'd take some piccies to help someone else as I did it. I cut the old pipe off with a scalpel, cut the crimp diagonally with a hacksaw, then unpeeled it with pliers - bit like opening a sardine can. It wasn't as thick and tough as I'd imagined! 8)

That's really helpful Marg, I was thinking about replacing mine but couldn't see how to do it.

What about fitting the new pipe?

Well, I used a hairdryer to warm the rubber piping and it went on fairly easily. I can't remember how I squeezed the lemon clip on now - didn't have the proper tool but used something from the toolbox. I'll have a think :-\

Oops, better late than never, I suppose! I got these from Wilkinsons for 3 or 4 pounds and squeezed the lemon clip very carefully so as not to cut it
