Hi. I thought I would ask all of your opinions on lampworking outside. I am getting most of the kit from Dolly daydream but no where to set up so I was thinking maybe a gazebo in the garden.
What is everyone's opinion on this? Would the ventilation be good enough?
Any thoughts on this would be appreciated
ventilation would be fine but you might find the flame all over the place
Bit of a fire risk if its breezy and the gazebo is fabric or plastic ! Can you find a corner in the house somewhere - it would be safer ?
No room.at all. I was going to put up a side or two to protect from the wind but if its a fire hazard I will have to wait
I worked outside for a few days in spring when I first got my hothead. I found seeing the flame very difficult in the sun and so couldn't melt the glass properly! If you can get some sort of shade, enough so that you can see the blue, you should be ok. It is snowing at the moment so hope you've got a big warm coat!
I wouldnt be doing it in this weather, Im like a lizard I need heat ;D Would a dark coloured gazebo do the job with a couple of sides on? I am desperate
Have you considered a temp set up that can be put away after use?
I have my torch screwed to a large piece of wood. The oxycon and the torch on it's wood then fit in a double kitchen cupboard when not in use, and come out and go over top of a work surface when needed!
Not ideal, but where there's a will......
What about setting up on top of your cooker? Don't know if it has a lid or not, but I've seen it done before, and if there is a hood then you've got your ventilation sorted too :)
Have you got room for a little shed? I have mine setup in a shed outside as I have 2 young children and am a childminder so can't have it in the house with no spare room. I just bought a little shed and put it in the corner and have a heater in there as well and light that I run via extension from the kitchen window. Just a thought x
No room in the house. I mean absolutely none. four adults and a nasty thieving ***** of a sil means I cant do it inside. Have a garage but thats falling down and a storage for someone elses trailers and no space for a shed. Grrrrr. Im feeling just a little frustrated lol
Is there anyone near you that has a set up you can borrow/rent or a space you could use ?

Lots of us demo outside, there's no reason why you can't do it.

Yep I am with Julie, if that is your only option I would go for it although that photo of you Julie I seem to remember was in those hazy summer days of the past when it was so bleddy hot noone wanted to melt anything ;)

Looks like you had plenty of ventilation there julie ;D That settles it. Hopefully we will be getting some spring weather soon and I will be off!
