Title: Cleaning Beads the Pain Free Way
Post by: Bumpy Beads on October 14, 2007, 03:26:20 PM
Yesterday, when I was cleaning my beads I stabbed myself AGAIN with the finest of the diamond reamers. It hurt like heck, and the tip of the reamer snapped off and embedded itself deep inside. I didn't realise at the time. Being stoic, I carried on cleaning beads. About an hour later I was in AGONY! My finger had swollen up like a sausage and was red hot. Well anyway, I gave it a good clean, put some savlon and a plaster on, and overnight the bit of metal was drawn to the surface and I was able to retrieve it this morning.

I was so nervous about cleaning the rest of my beads this morning! I've tried gloves before, but you just can't hold the bead properly. Then I had a Clairey-type brainwave! I found an old pair of leather gardening gloves, and chopped one of the fingers off. I slipped it over my much-stabbed index finger, and voila! It worked a treat!  ;D  ;D  ;D

I stabbed myself about 5 times the other day, I finished by using a dremmel to ream out the beads.

I got a rubber 'thimble' like the ones used when counting money etc (got from local stationer for 50p) - works a treat!  :D
