Well gaia is deep green in the rod and after reducing/ reducing again and again, guess what ?

I brought one rod , a friend whats a green BHB, I did hope for something a little more interesting than what I have made so far ;D

When you reduce it it should get a slight metalliccy sheen on it, but it tends to disappear if you encase it.... If you aren't seeing the sheen at all maybe you have a dodgy rod?
Try pulling a stringer, do some squiggles on ivory and then reduce. If nothing happens then it sounds like a dud.
I have had the same problem with this colour, can't get mine to do anything either :(
I just wondered what happens in cases like this, where it can be determined that they are dodgy rods. Can they be returned to our supplier to take it up with their supplier? The DH glass is an expensive loss. I haven't had any issues myself (apart from some Dark Multicolour that Helen and I both agreed were dodgy rods, but that doesn't cost as much as Double Helix glasses).
Just wondering really, because I suppose if it were something else that didn't work we'd take it back :D
I've got some that seems to work fine, even for a novice like me. Shall I send you a rod with the beads I've made for the X Factor thing, Sandy?

Well, the UK supplier will probably say that it's a DH issue, as they only stock the glass. But DH will then ask what batch it was, so unless the UK supplier has the batch information then DH probably won't play ball either. It's a sticky wicket.
I've spent a fortune on glass that "hasn't done what it is supposed to". Even DH batches will vary. Sometimes you get good Clio....sometimes you get lousy Clio......I've got a load of "Pandora 2" that stays a stubborn green. Not quite what I had in mind. I've got a load of "Multicolour" which stays a stubborn green and some glass laughingly called "Magic" which also stayed......(there's a pattern starting to emerge)....um...green.
And I reckon I'm pretty good at getting glass to strike and reduce..... :o
Still, it's not just silver glass that doesn't play ball. I've got at least four different batches of Rubino Oro (Effetre) which don't look anything like Rubino Oro - some are clear, some are topaz and one batch is a strange candy pink colour. I've had a spectacular fall out with one UK supplier over a batch of Effetre Straw Yellow which wouldn't react with Iris Gold. Well, not in the way it was meant to... Did get quite a reaction from Tuffnells, I seem to remember at the time!
Even CIM managed to produce inconsistent batches - they used to have a wonderful pumpkin orange colour. When I bought some more to replace it had mysteriously turned yellow.
The conclusion: In my experience there's no such thing as a consistent glass manufacturer, and while I agree that in any other markets you could probably have a good old moan with the supplier, in my experience you'll probably have more fun poking yourself repeatedly in the eye with a wooden peg.

I haven't had much of a play with this glass but I the second bead on the left is Gaia. It has a bit of an oil slick effect which you can just make out in the photo. I seem to remember that the only way I could get it to do anything was to reduce the hell out of it.

in conclusion then
1. I was looking for results like the picture from DH, not going to happen ! I think I was expecting too much.
2.will reduce the hell out of it. and try the stringer on ivory.
3. Sal if you want to off load your pandora 2 pm me as I have a customer who love blue acorns :-\ and especially likes pandora 2 ones !
4.any thoughts on oxalis ;D

I agree with you Sal, it's a very sticky wicket. I am only just starting to play with DH glass and had some quite pleasing (for me, anyway) results. Nowhere near as good as others on here achieve, but I'm just chuffed to get any effect at all to be honest :D
I've had the dodgy batch of MCD which did nothing at all and was very frustrating to say the least, but at least it didn't cost much!
I've just put it back on the rack and ignored it (I sometimes give it a dirty look as I'm passing).
Now, just in case ... does anyone have a wooden peg I can borrow? ;D
Try using it over amber transparent glass, it really brings it out if its going to work. If it doesnt wotk over amber then I reckon it will be a dud rod.
