Title: plan pot decorations...planned not accidental! advise please
Post by: kathsd on November 12, 2012, 02:33:14 PM
If I wanted to make plant pot ornaments......on purpose  :) ! ie. they're to stay on the mandrels, will I have any issues with them cracking do you think? (I want to make them right on the end of the mandrel, so it covers the end of the mandrel), they'll be annealed so they will cool in a controlled way so I'm guessing that the steel rods cooling and contracting shouldn't be issue,  ??? anyone any ideas please? or any other issues I may have that overlooked!
:-\
thank you
Kathsd

I make things on the end of bare mandrels and have had no issues  ;D  Good luck and don't forget to show!

I do this with my mangled mandrels and it works fine.  I only had cracking when I used to batch anneal, but popping them straight into a hot kiln solved that.
