Title: Need pink/purple help
Post by: CarrieH on September 17, 2012, 10:22:33 AM
I met a lady at a show yesterday who admired this bead:

She asked me to make her one similar in shades of pink or purple but with still with the surface reduction.  HELP!  I can get some great purples out of Kalypso but they are all encased.  I would be grateful for any ideas before I spend a fortune in glass to recreate a £15 pendant!  (I think this one was triton)

Aurae's worth a try: can get it to go pinky-gold - might need multiple reduction cycles. You could try kalypso on the surface anyway and see what happens? Psyche gives dark purple/blue - try a light base for it?

I Haven't played with Aurea for a while, and it can go pinky .. just can't remember how I did it.

Try a small test bead and try reducing while it's cold and another when it's still warmish.

You could even possibly try helios with a pink encased base?

I thought of helios but the lady was adamant that she 'didn't do golds'!  I also showed her some aurae over clear and this was too gold.  May have to try aurae over other colours and see what I can get.  My dayghter is home sick today so I've already lost a day when I could have been experimenting! :(

Boreas - the new DH one is more purple than Aurae, in a silvery kind of way  ;D

Try Aurae over dark ivory.

The flowers were encased with lavender 081 but you could try it without.

Do you mean the silver plum Gay? - I'd forgotten all about that!  I've only got the dark but it's worth a go.  Looks like I may get some torch time tomorrow as DD is desperate to go back to school for a school trip tomorrow.
