Title: Who put washing up liquid in my Effetre Copper Green???
Post by: Donna@Rockin' Beads on August 15, 2012, 12:38:10 PM
I have never ever had a rod of glass behave so strangely before but as the glass melts on the rod it actually bubbles. Big bubbles that pop as the glass heats further!!!!
Very strange.
I've had glass that bubbles on the bead but never on the actual rod.
As the rod cools the last bubble pops making a noise like bubble wrap being popped!
Anyone else had this happen?

That's weird. I've had glass that bubbles on the rod, but small bubbles and usually it's when you put it in from cold and it heats up too fast. Never copper green!

These are BIG bubbles and each time I used it, so from nice and warm each time.

I've had that, I figured the glass was boiling and I should work a bit colder.

I would also try working it cooler and maybe - as with aqua - try a little more propane in your flame.

Won't increasing the propane mess with the copper green though? I'm not planning on etching so would be left with a very metallicky bead, I think.
I'll definitely try working cooler though. I'm on a bobcat and have a terrible habit of ramping up the heat!

Just a little bit - not reducing yet, but less oxy. Just play a little with your settings. I do this with turquoise, too.
