Hello everybody, I'm hoping somebody has a clever little trick which can help me ??? I made (amongst other things) a set of encased beads last night and the decoration and spacers were done with Effetre purple opaque. They were fine when they went in the kiln but this morning they have a shiny brown appearance. Can I get this off somehow? What's caused it? Is it just the glass or is it from another bead that went in the kiln with them, which had a tiny (and I mean tiny) amount of silver glass on it (a few very small dots for decoration). Hopefully one of you clever people can come to my rescue!!! :-*
purple does that, its like turquoise that can get the grey silvery colour on it
stick em in cillit bang. I'm told coke works too but I never had any luck.
I use Goddards Silver Dip, just a quick dunk and it disappears ;) Doesn't work on pesky turquoise though >:(
I think a quick soak in etch all works as well. Experiment with the time though.

Hmm, it does but the amount of beads I've accidentally etched :-\ :-[

I have never been able to do it succesfully in etchall with etching the bead too!
Ahhhhh I knew you guys would be able to help! :) Off into town later so will buy Cillit Bang AND Silver dip (need some anyway and my bathroom will benefit too)!!! LOL If it's successful I may even be brave enough to post a picture ;) xx
I have managed to ger away wit rubbing it off (gently!) with a very fine grade of wet and dry paper too :)

Please make sure there are no naked men in the bathroom shot :P

A quick soak in toilet bowl cleaner works (on turquoise anyway - that's the only one I've used it on), but please be very careful! :)
Viakal also works a treat, just spray it on and wipe off!
