I have come across a tut that needs Sangria red, which I do not have and was wondering what would be a good replacement..I don't seem to have much luck with reds, I made eight Ladybirds the other day that all turned out Brown :(. So if anyone could point out what I am doing wrong I will send Big hug yourway xx
I LOVE LAUSCHA :) ... Thick rods but so yummy !!
Sangre is a sort of semi opaque red... so you might have trouble finding something else similar.
The new CIMs (Maraschino and Valentine) are quite nice, and Effetre Purple Red is also good, although that's very opaque.
I love sangria, but maraschino is lovely to use too :) I usually burn reds but these two have been fab :)
I'm a convert to CiM Valentine for red.
Maraschino is delish. I can't get on with Sangre to save my life, but Maraschino hasn't given me any problems at all.
It is about 4x the cost though.... typical ;)
Arhh, Is this why my reds are going brown am I burning them?...
Thankyou Ladies, You was quick... I'm sending big hugs now ;D
I'm off to nose in my shedio to see if I have any off these, I know I have purple red.
I do keep looking at Maraschino, I have heard it is beautiful. I have been told the result are amazing but since flame off my husband has hidden his purse..lol
I like purple red too and it is so much cheaper than maraschino :)
I love maraschino at the moment! I posted some maraschino beads at the end of last week's gallery if you want to see the colour.
I found that sangre tends to look brownish in certain lighting, but maraschino stays beautifully red. Haven't tried Purple Red though.
I'm afraid I'm another convert to Maraschino - it's a perfect bright red, very well behaved and even in colour. Sangria is a pain at times, I find that too. I love purple red, but if it's for ladybirds then it might not be quite what you're after? I could send you a selection of ends to try if you'd like so you can compare them? x
Gentle Mandy and work a little cooler, slightly note oxygen than propane.
Effetre light red is also very nice x
I do love my Frit Ladies, you always come to my rescue.. Thankyou sue but the lovely Cbeadies has offered me some already but thanks for the lovely offer.. Thankyou Trudy, I think I am maybe being a bit to harsh with it. Even watching all them lovely Ladies demos at Flame off and how patient they are with the glass. I do tend to work too hot ;D
A BIG HUG TO YOU ALL
Lauscha for me too.
It's listed as transparent, but it fires to a delicious opaque

I don't know why I didn't suggest this one! This is Reichenbach Garnet (http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8168/6966538782_4180d109b2.jpg) (http://www.flickr.com/photos/54880518@N08/6966538782/)

Looks wonderful and dense layered over any other red, and doesn't cost a fortune.

I made ladybirds as well, they came out yellow, orange and green! ;D ;D ;D ;D I hate red ladybirds (making them that is) the red goes black in the flame and I've no idea where I've put black dots! >:(

I was going to say the same, I am very good at burning reds and even if I burn this one it's still a nice red. It's number 591428.
Even the best red wine just makes my head ache, but I'll take any champers you lot have left over
Linda x ;D x
