Hi Guys, I am in the middle of making a big bead necklace for someone and I usually use Reinenbach intense black and Effetre 204 White now don't ask me why I had a brainstorm at FO and bought 208 White which has shocked all over my studio and I have wasted 3 Rods can't even pull a stringer with it. Tried heating it in the kiln first and introducing it everywhich way to every kind of flame and it is not having any of it. I bought some from Tuffnells and some from Sean and both lots are behaving in the same way....IS IT ME ??? ??? ???
I need to have clean lines so I think I am gonna have to bite the bullet and order more tomorrow......Tina suggested CIM PEACE. Does anyone else have any thoughts? My beads are big (the necklace is like the one I was wearing at FO) so the glass needs to be able to take alot of heat or prolonged heating. I am way out of my comfort zone with Black and white only as I usually work with loads of colour!
Thank you Lovely people.....
Peace and reichenbach deep black are fab together, heat well and should do the job no problem. :-*
CIM Peace is lovely Jennie, i haven't used any other white since i tried it!
If you want some i can spare you a bit?
Wow that was quick...thanks ladies...Thank you so much for the offer of some but I think I will need a fair bit so I will buy some....CIM PEACE it is!!
Look forward to seeing the results ;D
Now Black Drama....Have 3 Rods of intense black and then I only have Reinenbach Black does anyone know if that will web with CIM PEACE or can anyone tell me about Hades? Tuffnells seem to have sold out of Intense Black! Sorry to be a pain but I can't afford to buy untried!
If I ever get it finished I will definately post a photo!!
Hades seems fairly stable..I havn't used it with white though, but Kaz reckon's it's OK for murrini, so it must be fairly inert.
Photo please Jennie. ::)
Black and White what a Nightmare!! Now why is Hades so B expensive.....I need to be sure it is stable with CIM PEACE.....Thank you Peggy it is not that I don't trust you!! I just would love to hear from someone who has used both colours together as I can't afford to buy Hades and find it is not compatible at a £10.35 a quarter kilo a throw! ;) ;) ;) ;)
Deep black most reliable!
Soft white.....cockney rhyming slang!!!
Kazx
Hoooray! Thank you girls YOU ROCK!......I have Deep Black so I will rush off and buy some CIM PEACE......
Kaz you BAD girl wash your mouth out!! I have half a kilo of popcorn soft white......GREAT!!! Maybe I will make a sculpture with it like this Shayna Leib does:

Actually her work is fantastic....Check her out on FB!
Nice sculptures!
@Kaz - quite right! ;)
Actually - I think "Soft White" may possibly actually be Anice white. A few years ago I swear this glass was as rare as hen's teeth. I even remember there being fights about getting it in the US. Seems a bit odd that they're now flogging it off as white.
If it is Anice (and not some kind of Alabaster) then it's really nothing like White but it does do some REALLY funky things. Try laying stringers of it over black and you'll get a purple keyline running through the stringer. (Actually - try that anyway - to check whether you have Anice). If it is Anice you have then you can do cool things like this with it:

So, if it is Anice - then you have a really cool new addition to your stash. If it is an alabaster you have a really shocky not very useful wodge of soda lime.
Yes, it IS always shocky!
I had a few rods of anice white when i first started lampworking and they were very well behaved, hardly shocked at all....must have been lucky!
I liked the effects that Anice white can give, but that stuff is so shocky I just got bored waiting to even pull a stringer. Even on a hothead it's like heating popcorn!
I like it too, but hate the shockiness, it's nice with a transparent colour over it, but a pain in the bum for exploding.

Peace and deep black for me, not used eff. white or black for ages. you dont get any webbing, stays crisp and doesnt suck up either colour. Also got 15 8-10mm of 006 for you.
Kay in my black and White drama I missed the end of your post thank you....pm me and let me know what you want in return x that is fab news!!
