Just seen this on Facebook, waiting for pictures of the one with bead door that Lee says is to follow shortly.

I have to say I particularly like that shade of blue, it's very smart

I have had my kiln for less than a year but for the sake of buying British and the great service that that Lee gives (I have observed on here) , I would easily sell my SC2 with bead door and buy one of these when the bead door one comes out

I guess Blue Box Studio ought to have a blue box kiln in the blue box (shaped) studio? Only I have a blue one and fancied a change. Purple would be my first choice but assuming I can sell my SC2 to fund another kiln, colour is not a deal breaker if there is a b-i-g bead door.
Firstly, at the minute we are stuck to our Ultramarine blue. That may well change but no plans as yet.
Secondly, think SC2 with regards to size. With regards to physicality's, this isn't an upgrade from the SC2 as it is so similar. Where it is an upgrade is with regards to quality and it has a far more advanced control unit.
Oh and did I mention it is British???? ;)
Well, the bead door may be a fraction wider. The bead door on this kiln is the full width of the chamber

I am assuming that you will be making a fabby bead stand for the back of the kiln (One that comes out so it can continue to be dynamic)
One of the things that annoys me about my sc2 is that there is only one bead door, so there is all that space at the top that I can't utilise coz I can't get to it because the mouth of my existing door is crammed full of rods. (Or do you think from a practical side that too much heat would leak out?)

Ah very good question Bluebottle.
Every kiln made in Britain today is assembled in Britain with a mixture of components and parts from elsewhere. No kiln is made from all British components.
The bricks may be French, element wire Swedish, Fibre American, contactors Italian, etc.
This kiln uses more outside "assistance" than normal I guess, but we have gotta be able to compete, however, it is assembled here, wired here using our wire etc, fitted with the Stafford made KCR1 controller here, tested and finished here.
By the letter of the law, it is made in Britain, it has a Kilncare manufactured CE certificate.
I guess we have moved along the same lines as we did with the Bead Cube
How much bigger than the bead cube Lee, just curious as I love my bead cube! :)

Erm pink......we have the facility to so it is a possibilty but not immediately.
It will fire to 1100c too.

ah that is the final piece of the jigsaw. Obviously the SC2 will dictate how much we can get for this kiln, but it may be a little dearer than the SC2. ???
Looking forward to seeing the coat. I do not have the money at present, but it will be a real considation point the fact it is British, also the size of the bead door. Do we have picture of the one with a bead door yet ??
We are just making a couple of adjustments to the bead door. I may get a photo up by the end of the day hopefully
This is the one I will be buying when I am able Made in Britain like our beads! and exceptional after care from what I can see on here and FB it's a no brainer really ;D

It slopes towards the door... or at least mine does so if I did get it into my head to do some fusing in it I'd end up with one side thicker then the other.
I guess they did it for some clever reason or another but I can't fathom it out!?!

It's built with the same attention to the Bead Cube matey so hopefully, everyone will be as happy with theirs as you are with yours.

Erm, not really sure about that. I guess where there is a will there is a way but I think this bead door is bigger than that os the SC2 so then you would have some butchering to do.

And there is the beauty of not having the Bead Cube controller attached to the kiln. I see no reason why the Bead Cube can;t get all sweaty on top of one of these. Even better if you made a little metal or ceramic stand to give the Bead Cube a little bit of space.
Try as much as it likes, the new kiln will not be able to heat the Bead Cube case anymore than the Bead Cube itself does ;D

To be totally honest, I'm not sure exactly how big the bead door on an SC2. This one of ours is 193mm wide and the door will fully close with anything up to 10mm height of mandrels approximately. So it should be much more economical to the larger scale user.

Thats nearly all of my pre release models sold before I could, well, release them. We are frantacally trying to get another batch together so we can acyually open them to the market. We made a dozen to see how long they would take to sell and I think I may have underestimated things somewhat :) :)

Did anyone get one of these kilns? I've looked on kilncare website and couldn't see it on there.
I got the last bead door version from Lee's first batch, it's a great kiln, i love it, hopefully they will become available soon :)
