Title: New Terra?
Post by: helenfc on February 26, 2012, 02:06:01 PM
So I keep seeing people popping up on LE chatting about DH releasing 'Terra' made to the original batch from years ago and just as lovely. Does anyone know any more about it, and will we be getting it in the UK? (Hint hint suppliers  ;) )

Just found this...must.wait.til.payday...

Yes they will ... ask me how I know!!  The tax free limit has been dropped from £18 to £15. I was over by about 60p and it cost me over £11!

I've had a quick play with it ... only very quick and I'm getting colours from it!

hmmm, it is tempting, off for a good thorough read on LE...but not sure I fancy footing that customs charge! What is their postage like? x

Something like $7

If I were you, I'd go in with others and place one big order then the £8 PO handling fee won't be so bad. You could dish out at FO

If the parcel gets too large it apparently goes to Parcelfarce and they charge a £15 fee - RM has never charged me more than £8, PF always charge me £15.  When I queried it PF said it was the size of the parcel.

I bought some and had it sent to my friend Florida hotel - and it was stolen by the staff from what we can tell.  Delivered but not passed on ... very angry  >:(  Especially as a US friend has some and used it side by side with original terra and loved it!

Oh, rubbish Sue!!

Seems like a very specialised, weird thing to steal?

Would anyone be interested in a joint order then maybe? After Tuesday though! :)

Sal I would be interested, but if I was organising would need payment from everyone like the same day as am very muchly broke atm (not broke enough to stop me from getting my mitts on 1/4lb of Terra though bwahhahaha)

Sue, that is so awful, is there no way you can claim anything? xx

My friend has to get the ball rolling as it was sent to her, but she's up to her eyeballs at work at the moment, she's a head physio and like most areas of work nowadays, she's lost staff and is working a skeleton crew.  Hopefully, we'll be able to address it on Tuesday at dinner  :-\

I would love some, if it truly is the same, it was my favourite and I used it with gay abandon before I realised it was precious. I don't like terra 2 as much - it's not that you are referring to?

Who is this Gay Abandon that's been using all the old Terra?  ;)
With you on that - I LOVED the old Terra - even to the extent of paying a *really* premium price for a couple of sticks of the "old stuff". Although, in fact - old style Terra was certainly hit and miss. Terra 2 is okay - but not like the original. They say it's the same - but DH say a lot of things about their glass which isn't always reality. Having said all of that - I'm willing to give them a chance once again.  :) And yes, this is meant to be the "original recipe" Terra....

They reckon it was using a machine to pull that stopped it being like the original, that all of the rolling etc needed for a handpull prestrikes the glass, and that is what makes this the same as the original.  My matey is a fussy wotsit with silver glass, and is loving this, and I'm not beyond getting on a plane to kick her ankle if she's wrong  ;D

I got an extra 1/4lb just in case, so if anyone would like that, first to pm is welcome to it.
It works our at $35 (£22.06) per 1/4lb, including shipping and customs. You will have to pay a squid or 2 for RM handling when it arrives, and postage, although I will happily take it to Flame off with me. Any takers? xx

well the first issue was which rod to try first as they are all different looking - umm ahhh - okay go with a lucky dip

first beads - left to right, over adamantium and encased, over powder pink not encased, over reichenbach white and encased finally dots on old ivory with clear over the dots

looks like lots of play needed to get the best out of it but not too bad as a first play on a hothead, I Like it ;D

Here's my first attempt with it, one over hades and the other over Tuxedo.

The tuxedo has swallowed it up and produced a kind of copper turquoise line, strangely, quite nice but not what I was after.  Over the hades, it has split into a rainbow of colours, tans reds blues greens and purples, yummy.  ;D

Wish'd I seen this thread earlier, lovely results so far.  I really like it over the tuxedo Sue, I can see those beads made into a stunning piece of jewellery.  I love your gravity beads Mark and those discs are lovely Helen.   :)
