I found this in my stash, one rod, had a little play and it seems to go a really nice purple greeny colour! Wee bit like multicolour. I reduced it, is this the right thing to do, was a bit of a fluke with the colours as seemed to work out without me trying, hence wondering if it is easy to work. Have we a wiki with silver glass as I would like to start using some but I have a real variety but just a very little of each and don't want to waste any if I can help it. Should I just search silver glass on here maybe.
hi,
worth a look here as well
http://www.doublehelixglassworks.com/FAQ.aspx
on the glass tab of the web page you can select their glass by striking or reducing and see what each one 'needs'
hope this helps a bit, have to say i found it a good glass and not too hard to get colours from but it is a striking glass normally but often i found even on a hot head it took little if any reheating - just at the top of the flame and not for long !
addendum - just noticed they place it as a striking and reducing !
Great thanks will have a look there! That would explain why it worked without me seeming to do anything special at all! :)
Have to say the more I have worked it the more poo I have got! Will try to be kinder to it next time and see what happens! :)
Terra used to be a striker but Terra2 does a bit of both, like Ekho. Actually, it will strike very easily so the best thing is not to treat it like Multicolour or Raku, just use it like normal glass. If you shape your bead under a slightly hotter than normal flame and then take it out of the flame for a while you should see it go very dark. This is the glass striking. Next if you waft it into a slightly reducing flame (just turn your oxy down a touch) you may see a metallic purple lustre appear over the surface. I usually encase it straight after that. So, yes, it strikes and it reduces.
