Title: silver glass and silverglass?
Post by: KatheL on January 16, 2012, 11:58:34 PM
Hi,
I have been reading loads of info like tutorials that include using silverglass. I am a bit confused, and hope someone can clear the fog for me....there are silver glass like Double Helix and TAG. Then there are silver glass like Kugler (ASK) silver brown, magic, multicolour, raku etc.
And there are silver glass like Iris blue, Iris gold, Iris green etc.
They obviously don't do the same - are there any distinctive way to "group" these so to know what is what? ???

I simply group mine into three categories - strikers, reducers and bases, regardless of manufacturer.  After this, it's a case of getting to know each individual glass and its vagaries which is something that takes a little time and experimentation.  I also have them in order of preference, so my favourite to my least  :)

That's very organised Sue!  I sort mine the same way but lump each category together.  The getting to know individual glass characteristics and effects and their reactions with certain other glasses is the exciting bit that takes time!  Have fun  ;D

Strikers and reducers I can understand, but what is the bases? how do they work? Can you give some examples from these groups please?
