Title: Can Aluminium & Bronze powder be used on beads??
Post by: Lakelady on January 14, 2012, 10:26:28 PM
Wasn't sure where to put this...

An artist friend of mine gave me a couple of pots of metal powder - aluminium and bronze.  He was curious to know if I could use it in bead-making.  I have checked on the website to find out the purity and note that the aluminium is used in pyrotechnics, so I wondered if anyone had tried either of these powders and if so, what the outcome was?

I am sure my bead won't go up like a firework if I added a bit of aluminium as I am guessinf there would be more components added but I don't fancy a firework display in my 'studio'!

I *think*, as long as it's only a very little amount of it, the worst that would happen is a coloured flame coming off of it - we used to do similar experiments in school. Not sure if you'd be left with anything apart from a grey dust though...
