Title: What's this glass?
Post by: Blue Box Studio on November 21, 2011, 02:39:23 PM
I inherited some green stiped glass from someone / somewhere. What is it?  It looks like it strikes on the glass, although I don't get purples when I use it (just green  ::)  :'( )

But if I knew what it was I might be able to do something with it (she said optimistically)

can you tell what it is yet? (http://www.flickr.com/photos/blueboxstudio/6376698137/) by Blue Box Studio (http://www.flickr.com/people/blueboxstudio/), on Flickr

It looks like DH glass. There were several test batches that were that green colour, which went on to become Pandora. I stopped buying soft glass before Pandora came out so I don't know what colour it is in the rod, but that's what I'd say it is  ::)

Looks like RH-169

I have some and have, in the past, had some beautiful purpleish beads, however, it no longer seems to want to play, maybe the torch makes the difference ???

Isn't it one that is worth putting back through the kiln a couple of times if you don't like the first result??

OK, thanks.  Will move from the murky green section of storage to DH corner and see what I can manage with it.  I've about 10 rods so don't want to waste them if they are DH.

looks likes pandora to me, the batches vary a lot,
its a kiln striker, original pandora likes the kiln hotter than pandora 2.... but it all depends on neptunes position and the glass gods mood  ;D

That's where I've been going wrong then, I've been going by my bio-rhythms and the position of the Plough constellation  ::)

Will treat as Pandora and see how I get on.  The other pandora I have is clear green.

I recently got my paws on a rod of Green Envy, and that is what it looked like in the rod and at the end when it had been in the flame.  If you send me a couple of rods I could test it for you ...  :P ;D

Or you could send me a rod of Green Envy and I'll see if I get the same shade of bird poo out of that? :P ;D
