Title: Problem encasing black??
Post by: Dee Dee on October 14, 2011, 12:44:56 AM
I made some base beads with black (mostly CIM Tuxedo, one was made with Effetre), and then put a little gold leaf over them, and then encased with clear - pretty sure I used Vetrofond Crystal Clear, but I may have also used some Lauscha - three of them have cracked hole to hole, but I am sure I didn't let them get too cool.

Any thoughts anyone?? Btw, the Effetre Black one cracked too!

Personally, I wouldn't trust the Lauscha over something like Tuxedo. Would think you'd be okay with Vetrofond....

Mmmnn....thanks Sal, that was my thought too, they are a commission, and now I am a bit worried (if it's not the Lauscha) that they will crack when they arrive at my customers!

It has been quite interesting watching the cracks develop - there were none when they came out of the kiln, ok for the next few days, then last night, just a tiny line, now three hoofin' great lines that you can't miss!
