Title: Copper?
Post by: Amber on October 08, 2011, 12:12:28 PM
I'd love to make and wear more copper jewellery, but I never do because it makes my skin go green. Not a very attractive look!  :(

I know that a lot of you are using copper more and more so come on...are there any tips or tricks for stopping this from happening, or do I just have to put up with looking like the incredible hulk?  :D

Renaissance Wax helps - http://www.ejrbeads.co.uk/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=91&products_id=3509

Or you can seal it with something like Protectaclear - http://spautopia-home.co.uk/jewellerykits.aspx

I find Protectaclear especially useful if you've added a patina, as it doesn't darken the colour, unlike some spray on varnishes I tried.

I was going to suggest the Renaissance wax too, but George beat me to it! (thanks George!)

Most seed beaders use beeswax but micro-crystalline wax is also Laura McCabes 'wax of choice' for her beading/bead embroidery thread.
