I've discovered a thick rod of Reichenbach Iris Yellow, muist have come in one of the glass collections I bought this year. For starters it's nothing like a yellow, more of a murky brown. Hving had a quick trawl through Google, everything seems to suggest this may not be coe 104? Since I intentionally only buy 104 glass and have used it as a base for some other beads, I'm thinking my morning's work may have been wasted and these will break! :'(
Anyway, anyone know if there is a 104 version?
It's coming out murky brown, anyone know what it's supposed to do, seeing as it isn't coming out yellow - yet?
theres none in my 104 stash, doesn't mean it doesnt exist though. hope it does!
no clue what its meant to do... if iris orange is raku, then iris yellow could be...? I dunno. but maybe try some on its own and treat it like raku just to see if anything interesting pops out?
I thought i had some iris yellow, but I sold some , I will have a look though,see if I kept any, it was def 104 same as iris blue green etc . :)
Tuffers sell Iris yellow (gold) it's a reduction glass, very pretty. And 104. Although i also have it in 96.
Ah , I didn't know it reduced! I think I need a mugs guide to which glass reduces. ::)

Easiest way might be just to try it!
Having said that, the word 'iris' usually means it will reduce :)
I'll cook the beads tomorrow, but so far they've survived the bubbles, and will report back. It has gone a sort of yellow colour, but I'm being generous; definitely looking a little guano at the mo!
There is a 104, I have some. What torch are you working on?
A minor. The rod is a dull brown colour, if that helps.
If it's brown it might be worth treating it like iris orange or raku - lots of heating and cooling to try bringing out the colours. See what happens if you try it for dots or stringer work as it will be easier to get the extremes of temperature.
I've never found anything interesting to come out of Iris Yellow though I'm the first to say I haven't really given it a thorough testing. I doubt it will pop like raku though - it's more likely to stay murky brown/yellow. It will reduce - as will all Iris colours but it'll probably be underwhelming.
You can try a compatibility test to make sure of the COE - dab a little bit of it onto a rod that you know is 104 whilst molten and pull a very very thin stringer making sure you have a bit of each colour in the stringer. If the stringer stays straight it'll be 104 but if the stringer bends it will be a different COE, probably 96.
