Title: Photographing the Flame
Post by: Krysia@No98 on September 17, 2011, 07:51:00 PM

Has anyone ever tried taking pictures of their flame?

My torch is doing something it shouldn't so it's been requested that I take a photo, so far I am managing a blue blur.  :-\

Any suggestions!?!

...PLEASE... ???

Have you tried putting the lens of your diddys in front of your camera lens and taking the photograph? it might work.

Have you got a setting to speed up the shutter? I've got something that takes pics in rapid succession which is great for action type shots where things are moving fast - I've not tried to photograph the flame but just offering an idea! Good luck!

what a fab picture, that's exactly the type of picture I'm looking for, I need a picture of the candle/jets.  I'm only getting a blurred picture of the flame and I have tried with my diddies too...

(I won't bore you with the other pictures I have like this...)

I shall try again after my bath, maybe if I point more lights at it... Did you use a flash?

The best pics i have of the flame are taken at the side of it.

hubbies pics always come out better than the ones I take sat behind it.

It's hubbies challenge of the day, I need something to illustrate what I mean by lampwork when at fairs - seeing I can't take the torch et al with me.  In a tiny shedio, with it pouring with rain and the window not opening wide enough for him to perch under this could be a challenge.

More light, it looks like the background is underexposed as it's so dark, the flame being the only light in the shot is over exposed, which is why it looks like a white bar. And closer, use your macro function same as you do when photographing beads so you just get the flame and a bit around it and not much background.

Not as good as Sarah's but these were just point and press.

I need to have them more like Sarah's

There seems to be something going wrong when I crank up the oxygen, so I need to be able to catch the 'flares' so that I can send the picture to Martin and he can have a look.

So I need the definition of the candles in the flame.

Thank you for that advice Magpie, I shall try again this evening

Thank you everyone :-)

Nope no flash. Normal lens, day light and point and press. The side views definetly came out better :)
