The theme of the month challenge is jointly sponsored by Tuffnels (thank you Martin!) and Frit Happens!
Each month the lucky winner, chosen by a random number selector, will receive a £20 gift voucher to spend on-line with Tuffnels. The draw will take place on at the end of the month so make sure you get your entries (beads and jewellery) in to be in with a chance to win the goodies!
So, the theme of the month for AUGUST 2011 is THIS LOVELY POEM - SEPTEMBER BY HELEN HUNT JACKSON
The goldenrod is yellow,
The corn is turning brown,
The trees in apple orchards
With fruit are bending down;
The gentian's bluest fringes
Are curling in the sun;
In dusty pods the milkweed
Its hidden silk has spun;
The sedges flaunt their harvest
In every meadow nook,
And asters by the brookside
Make asters in the brook;
From dewy lanes at morning
The grapes' sweet odors rise;
At noon the roads all flutter
With yellow butterflies–
By all these lovely tokens
September days are here,
With summer's best of weather
And autumn's best of cheer.
Feel free to interpret the theme in whichever way you choose!
Good luck!

There is an awful lot to be thinking about with this one! Colours, shapes, imagery. Shame we can't encapsulate scent into glass isn't it?
and perfume bottles tend to be made of....?
Can I please enter a set I've already made ??
Feel free to remove it if I can't :) It's just such a lovely poem :)

Ooh, I think a couple of the things I made yesterday fit the bill here.

Good point! I haven't ever made a vessel....
Oooh, this one should be fun.
A lot of scope too :)
Here we go! Actually, most of the things I've made this month are kind of autumnal, so here are a few. I still had the acid yellow out too.

I have a little yellow butterfly ringtop, not terribly original or thoughtful I'm afraid!

These are all lovely gorgeous butterfly!
I'm going with orchards and harvest because I've always wanted to try a tree bead and I'm practicing my stringer control.
Here's my second attempt:

Some very nice things here already. Those spirals are wonderful Sarah, and that BHB just glows. Very nice stripies and trees and butterflies and dots and swirly murrini beads. I don't want it to be Autumn yet though!
I did say I would have a go at a vessel for this one, to "contain the scents of Autumn", lol. So here is my first ever vessel. I used the frit twistie I used on all my fuglies yesterday (I won't inflict those on you here) for the neck and the bottom and dotted it around the middle. The neck is a bit wonky but it actually stands up! ;D

there are some super beads in here - every time I look it just gets better, fab stuff everyone
wow - that vessel is lovely, if it needs a home i have a really nice shelf in our 'precious bits' cabinet for it ;D ;D
Great vessel! :)
I suppose my Autumn Leaves big hole bead would fit the theme?

well there was mention of a brook and asters, both blue, so thats the Chalcedony again, added a bit of bronze brown for the feel of autumn leaves and made this while playing with the bluedini earlier
hope its not too naughty to put one in each monthly theme that are so close together?

I seem to like tall beads and swirly colours ;D
