I took my first foray over into the dark side yesterday.... (managed to melt through my first mandrel too - that was fun!)
Don't laugh too much! ;)

I now have to do some annealing research as these just went into the kiln with my 104 beads on their schedule.
Lovely colours in those top beads :)
Not laughing at all here, except with glee because you have so clearly 'got' it and I hope will now need to make more :)
Fab colours, lovely and bright - you should be dead chuffed ;D
Well done - those are really nice :)
Bootiful Ness ;D
wow Ness the left two beads in the first photo are gorgeous, definitely no laughing going on over here!
Thank you ;D
Emma, thank you :-* I do want to do more - I need to tame it!! For a first go, they're not too bad, and I do love the colours. I may have discovered a new obsession (oh no! ;D)
QuoteI need to tame it
I know that feeling! ;D ;D ;D But for a first go they are more than just not too bad, they're darned good :)
Lovely colours, bet that was fun.
super beads, I love the way the light lights them up.
x
So wonderfully ethereal.
no laughing here either, more 'oooo' and 'send me that Ankh!' ;D Love it! What colour did you use for it??
Oh thanks so much, everyone!
Glenn, ;D thank you - it's Purple Thunder ( with a teeny bit of clear frit at the bottom). I think next time i try an ankh I will do the stem and loop in one 'sweep' and add the arms after. I have realised with boro I will need to plan until I know what I'm doing, rather than wing it.
Or maybe I'll still have to plan and will never know what I'm doing ;)
Its all lovely Ness - now go and make some more ;D ;D ;D
Right Ness - I've dunnit too and have a couple of beads in the kiln. I don't think I've got any gorgeous colours like you have, but next time I will. ;)
;D ;D ;D ;D Yay, Sue!!!! ;D ;D ;D

hear hear ;D ;D
Lovely Ness- are you completely addicted now? :)
I only had time for a couple of spacer sized beads Ness, but will have more time later today. One of them was rubbish, but the other was rather pretty, using a little of the blue lightning you gave me and some silver beach.

Hard to take piccies of, but I love working with it. Some off mandrel later ;D Thanks for getting me started again x
Another two bite the dust.... ;D ;D ;D
That is a pretty bead, too :)
You'll see us coming at the next Flame Off - we'll be the ones with the light sabres ;D

;D ;D ;D
I think I am hooked (you know you're smitten when you dream about it.....) and I will make more, just with summer holidays and no playgroup, my torch time is severely limited again :(
Ness what fantastic colours you've managed to get, I don't think anybody will be laughing. And Sue that really is a lovely bead.....come on you two - go, go, go. :) ;D ::)
I can't seem to get the colours at all as yet - but I have an hour or two later. It will not defeat me ...
Possibly. ::)

ah the purples can be b*****'s to strike and get the colours ;) I am sure you'll get there! Pretty good bead there too!
Thanks for the encouragement Glenn :) I may try some unencased work later, then play with encasing.

Thanks for the encouragement Glenn :) I may try some unencased work later, then play with encasing.
Try partly encasing, especially with some of the darker reactive colours like black lightning; trawl a little clear as either stringers or clear frit over the top blue moon, indigo luster, etc, as the difference in temperatures and flame chemisty will give different effects, making the same bead look like it's been made with several different glasses ;)
That bead is so pretty Sue, I meant to say earlier - I was just caught up with the image of us wielding light sabres ;)
(Star Wars has been a big theme in our house this week with Jasper actually asking does Chewbacca really chew people's backs?)
I cannot wait to try more things - keep going Sue, we'll learn together ;D
If I don't get a bit more colour, I may be throwing toys out of my pram before long >:( I will have to be Darth Vader. ;D
Don't worry woman - the Force is with you ;D
Too late, there goes the rattle ... :D
