Title: Discontinuing Messy Colours...
Post by: helenfc on June 13, 2011, 08:40:09 AM
So my latest Frantz Newsletter says that Creation Is Messy is discontinuing the following colours:
Lipstick, Soylent, French Blue, Halong Bay, Cornflower, Count von Count, Larkspur, Butter Pecan and Khaki (www.frantznewsletter.com (http://www.frantznewsletter.com))

OK, some of these I dont care about, but Butter Pecan?!  :o :o Gutted! And Lipstick is one I was just growing to love! Think there may be a large Butter Pecan order going in later  :'(  ;)

Eeeeeeeek - I can live without some of these but not Butter Pecan, Cornflower, Soylent or French Blue - they are staples and feature in many of my murrini recipes!!!! Will have to start testing out the effetre equivalents!!!
Stocking up - thanks for the heads up Helen!

I just decided I really like cornflower, which is a bit of a big deal considering I never use blue.

I know  :-\ Frantz have them at 60% off, so I was really considering bulk buying some BP from them, its $12 lb, whereas here its around £10 for 1/4kg... Its my failproof neutral base colour (moan whine whinge)  :P

It's so sad! Butter pecan is the only suitable one I've found for caucasian bosom buddies! Ive just ordered a pound of it from frantz and have stocked up when I was at flame off so should have just over a kilo but it's a crying shame!

You should all let Kathy Seamands know how you feel about these colours - particularly Butter Pecan.

I've sent a begging email about Butter Pecan - I hope they rethink that particular decision at least.

Me too! I wouldn't even care if they increased the price a bit. I know it's already expensive but if it means keeping that cOlour I'd pay!

I wonder why nothing about it is up on the CIM site?

(PS, did you see the new ltd runs they are working on, YUM! Might ease the pain a little bit!  ::) Gosh, I'm fickle!) x

Oh YUM!

Ok that does ease the pain slightly but strains the bank balance.

Khaki is nice, but Hippo is nicer, hippo is a little darker though. Great base glass.

Hi ,

Yes there are to be some discontinued colours . There are manufacturing reasons as well as simple financial reasons. Some such as Butter Pecan are very expensive to make and to be honest never sold in huge quantities.

We have all the discontinued colours on the shelf in the warehouse and are carrying 30-50 kilos of each colour in stock presently so there won't be a sudden end to them .....unless you all start panic buying ...which i would probably recommend.

The next delivery from CiM will include all there remainder of the dscontinued colours that we have bought as well as new Ltd colours and more new colours as they are made but as yet we have no delivery timescale on this shipment .

In the meantime i would strongly recommend widespread panic buying of all CiM colours ...fill your baskets .

cheers ,

martin

Just one problem with panic buying.

We will all be swamped in so much glass we may not need any until next year...

no wait...how silly of me you can never have enough glass!
Think 6 of those 9 new colours may be falling into my basket soon.

I just got a response from Kathy, she's probably answering the mass pleas now.

Butter pecan - Not totally going bye bye, Kathy said it's the same formula as ginger so they occasionally get it when pulling ginger anyway so we will see it.
Lipstick - Just to difficult to get right
and Khaki just plain doesn't sell.
They were the only ones I asked about.

End of the FAQ she posted an update

Ok, well that is a wee bit positive about the pecan, I guess I will have to try ginger. Frantz is completely sold out of BP already which gave me a minor panic attack!! Think I might get another 1/4 kg from here just to be safe...

I have both pecan and ginger, and on rod sight there is hardly any difference. Do they behave differently upon cooking :)

Ginger goes darker than butter pecan does.
