Title: How do you work with glass shards?
Post by: Ant on June 06, 2011, 10:54:56 PM
I've seen glass shards mentioned quite alot and was just wondering how you work with them?  Are they used for any particular special effect or is it just a way of getting a splodge (technical term) of colour into a bead?  Please can anyone de-mystify me?

Jolene had a video of using them, don't know where I've put the link at the mo. someone will be along with it I'm sure!

they are often expensive and reactive colours, because they are thin you get alot of effect for not much glass!

Because they're so thin, they look different from adding a splodge of colour to the bead yourself. So opaques can be translucent - thin silvered ivory shards look lovely that way. Leaving them raised looks great too.

Thanks all of you for the info.  Julie, thanks - I'd love you to give me a quick demo please - I'll be in touch shortly.

Looking forward to having a play and will no doubt have a look to see what shards jo is selling.  :D
